Day 13 | Friday The 13th Halloween Card Hop with the Technique Junkies Design Team

Welcome to a very busy day - Day 13 of my 30 Days of Halloween/Autumn Cards, Friday the 13th, and the Technique Junkies Friday the 13th Halloween Card Hop!  Each of the Technique Junkies Design Team Members has made a Halloween card(s) using new and previously released Halloween stamps - with the hope that we inspire you to start making your own Halloween cards.

Links to each of their posts is at the end of this post.  You will also find the sale info and an additional discount code to use.  If you make a card using one of the Halloween stamps from Technique Junkies, please tag us by using #techniquejunkiesstamps so we can see your creations.

Now, on to the card I made -

I've been wanting to make a Halloween slimline card but I don't own any stamps the size of a slimline card.  So I decided to use one of my favorite Halloween stamps - Ghosties Night - to make my Halloween slimline card.

Here is how I made it:

  • I made a top-folding A2 card base using black cardstock.  I cut a piece of black cardstock 4.25" x 11", placed the long side along the top of my scoring tool, and scored at 5.5".
** I made my card base this size because I knew I would use a stitched slimline die that measured 7 5/8" x 2 7/8" - I just added 3/8" to the length and width. to give a border.  Measure your own die and add 3/8", length and width, to make your card base.

*** For the papers on this card, I used 2 digital designs from the Halloween Digital Paper Collection from Girl One Art on Etsy.  You can buy this as a stand-alone collection or you can buy it in her Halloween Mega Bundle, which comes with 5 cool Halloween digital collections.  I bought the bundle since I could not beat the price and I got 5 sets at once.
  • I adhered one of the papers I printed to the front of my card front (the bats).
  • Then I die-cut the other paper I printed (the Boo paper) using the stitched slimline die, adhered a piece of black fun foam to the back (optional), and then to the card front.

  • I stamped Ghosties Night - twice - with Onyx Black Versafine Ink and then heat embossed it using clear embossing powder.
  • Then I die-cut 4 different parts from the stamped images using a 2.25" x 2.25" stitched square die. But I will only use 3 of them for this card.

  • I cut 3 pieces of black cardstock, 2 3/8" x 2 3/8", and adhered one of the 3 die-cut pieces to each one.  Then I adhdered a piece of black fun foam to the back of each one, and then to the card front.
  • Then I went through my box of googly eyes and adhered different-sized eyes to the ghosts.

  • Lastly, I die-cut a piece of white cardstock using the same stitched slimline die that I used on the front, stamped Halloween Paintstroke to one side, and adhered to the inside.

Here's a close-up of the front of the card with the googly eyes.

Day 13 done!  Now for the fun stuff!
