Did You Know That April is National Letter Writing Month

Image
Did you know that April is National Letter Writing Month (NLWM)?  It is.  Really.  Trust me!  You can read all about National Letter Writing Month - the history, how you can participate, what you can do...all by clicking HERE .  You can also do a search for "National Letter Writing Month" and you will get lots of links and ideas.  Even though the postal service here is horrible, I wanted to make some cards and promote NLWM. My friends Debra and Celeste also did a post about NLWM and snail mail.  Just click on their names to go over to their blog posts.  It's also the start of a new 10-Day Coloring Challenge with TheDailyMarker.com and, since I have been up since 5am coloring these images, perfect timing!  So...my cards...I used Scene It Snails from Bugaboo Stamps .  I printed 4 on a piece of A4 white cardstock.  Then I used a stitched rectangle die to cut 3 of them out leaving the 4th to be fussy cut.   I made...

Slimline Back To School Card

Image
Hello Hello Hello everyone!!   It's time for a new challenge over on the  If You Give A Crafter A Cookie Challenge Blog .   If you would like to play along with us for Challenge No. 150, here is the "inspiration photo" that the team had to work with -     I am also going to enter this card into a few "anything goes" card challenge blogs if you want to play along with them too. As soon as I saw the photo that the Design Team had to work with, I got the idea in my head to make a slimline card with books stacked up high and a girl sitting at the top, reading.  Let's first make a top-folding slimline card -  I cut two pieces of white cardstock, 3.5" x 8.5" and  3.5" x 9".   I placed the 2nd piece with the 9" side along the top of my scoreboard and scored at 1/2".      Then I burnished the 1/2" section, applied double-sided tape to it, and adhered it to piece 1 to form the card.     ...

Happy Birthday To You With Bugaboo!

Image
Hello everyone!!  I hope y'all are doing well this Thursday morning.  Tomorrow starts Carnaval here in Brasil and not much happens over the next few days other than the big parties in Sao Paulo and Rio.  We are going to try and get away to the beach on Sunday and enjoy the quiet. It's time for a new challenge over on the If You Give A Crafter A Cookie Challenge Blog .  We are up to Challenge No. 136 and it's all about birthdays!  Who doesn't love to get a birthday card?  Here is the inspiration photo that the design team had to use when making our project.   For my project, I am using a digital stamp called Birthday Critters Sign from Bugaboo Stamps .  I love this image, not only because of the pig, but because of the big letters that can be colored in bright birthday colors.  I love pigs and I love bright colors. I started by printing 4 of them at 65% on to a piece of A4 white cardstock.  This way I can mak...

If You Give A Crafter A Cookie - Back To School with Bugaboo Stamps

Image
Hello everyone!  As I say every year, I cannot believe it's September....summer is over (for you guys in the USA)....and it's back to school for the kids.   Over on the If You Give A Crafter A Cookie Challenge Blog we are celebrating the "back to school" theme with Challenge No. 126 and here is the inspiration photo the design team had to work with -  I started with a top folding A2 card base of white cardstock to which I adhered a piece of decorative paper from the Bundle of Joy A New Girl Collection from Echo Park.   I used one of the sheets called Alphabet Antics because of the letters on the sheet - perfect for a back to school theme. Next up was my image.  Using Gimp (a free image editor), I merged two digital stamps into one - book stack  and book sitter - both from Bugaboo Stamps . After printing it to the size I needed, I die cut the image, along with a solid piece of cardstock, using dies from the A2 Matti...

It's Coffee and Cupcakes With Deb and Celeste Day

Image
Hello...Hello....Hello.....everyone.  Yes, I am in a good mood today.  That's because I was asked to have "cyber" coffee with my friends Deb and Celeste again and the theme is "anything goes".  This time I am bringing cupcakes.  Well, a cupcake card that it is. Before I get to the card let's talk about today's choice of coffee.  A few week's ago Ruy and I went to a green market in the town next to use and there was a coffee food truck there.  The coffee was great and we bought a bag of the beans.  Freshly ground Brasilian coffee is the best!!  Now, for the card -  The first thing I did was to print out the USA Cupcake digi stamp from Bugaboo Stamps.   They also have a Canadian Cupcake and both are on sale for $1 right now.  Yes, $1 US!!   I trimmed the image to 3" x 4" and then I applied some white puffy paint to the cupcake.  I wanted it to look like it was white frosting.  Althoug...

If You Give A Crafter A Cookie - SuperHero Card with Bugaboo Stamps

Image
Hello everyone and Happy June!!  It's that time of the year again.  No, not summer!!  Father's Day!  And, just in time, Challenge 118 on the  If You Give A Crafter A Cookie challenge blog, is all about "superheroes", of which many men in the dad role, are!     My friend Debra , who is on the If You Give A Crafter design team, made an adorable card for this challenge (you can see it HERE ) and I had to join her because this card was itching to get out of my head.   I started with a top folding A2 card base of which cardstock.  I adhered the Circle Rays stencil ( StencilGirl Products ) to the card front with painter's tape and, using a blending tool, I blended in squeezed lemonade distress ink.  I also found a (very old) die from QuicKutz called City Skyline, which I die cut using a piece of decorative paper from my stash.   I then adhered the skyline to my card front and cut away the excess. ...
