Woodblock Wednesday / Christmas Card / Using My Stash

Image
  Hello all and welcome to a new "Woodblock Wednesday" - the perfect day of the week to make a card using woodblock stamps that have not been used in some time - or at all.   This week I am using two woodblock stamps I found the other day while "organizing".  A background stamp - Envelope Pattern ( Hero Arts ) and Holly Collage ( Memory Box ).  Both are long retired but, if you wish to recreate this card, I hope you have something in your own stash you can use.   My goal is to hopefully inspire you to make something from what I made.   Let's get started... I made an A2 card using a red cardstock in my stash.  I love it because it has a light watermark pattern on it.  Not that much will be seen.  I also wanted some shimmer so I grabbed my set of Starry Colors Gansai Tambi paints, my Mini Mister of H2O, small brush, and I splattered on some of the White Gold ink.   I also adhered a piece of white cardstock to the insid...

Card No. 1 - November 2020 Crafty Elves Countdown To Christmas - Tourist Snow {People}

Image
Hello everyone.  This is a more detailed step by step on how to make Card No. 1 from the November 2020 Edition of the Crafty Elves' Countdown to Christmas . This adorable city scene with a Big Red Bus filled with tourist snow {people} is not a clean and simple card but worth it for someone special in your life.    Links to the other 3 cards as well as links to the other Crafty Elves' cards are at the bottom of this post. As I mentioned in my main post, the idea for this card has been floating around in my head for almost 2 years and it felt great to get it out.  And I love how it came out.    I started by making a 4.25" x 8.75" top folding slimline card from white cardstock.  Along the bottom of the front of the card, I adhered a strip of THIS dotted-line washi tape to act as the road along which the bus is driving. I die cut the Memory Box Cityscape Die 4 times. Twice from black cardstock and twice from a grayish/cement cardstock.  There are so...

Crafty Elves Countdown to the Holidays - January 2020

Image
Hello everyone.  My friend Debra ( Meticulosity ), and her friend Lisa ( Life of a BZscrapper ), came up with an idea at the begging of last year.  They decided to make 4 Christmas cards per month and 1 blog post per month showing the world what they made.   They call themselves the "Crafty Elves".  A few weeks ago Debra asked me if I would also like to be a Crafty Elf.  I said YES!  Who doesn't want to be a Crafty Elf?  And Lisa asked her friend Jessica ( Polka Dot Orchard ) to be an Elf.   Now there are 4 Crafty Elves! And, since I say, e very year, that I will make a card a week so that by the end of the year I have a stash of handmade cards to send, and that NEVER happens, this will be a good thing because now I am forced to make the cards and do a blog post.  And, I will have a mixture of Christmas, Hanukkah, and generic holiday cards.   Here are the cards I made for January 2020.    Car...

A Not So Ordinary Valentine's Day Card

Image
Hello everyone!  January is almost over and I needed to make a Valentine's Day card for a card swap group that I am in.  I did not want to make a typical red or pink card and wanted to go with purple.   I started by going thru my paper stash.  I found a REALLY OLD (circa 2011) paper pad called "what's up" from Basic Grey with some flowered designs in purple and dark orange that I thought I could use. I made a top-folding card base of purple cardstock. Then, using my stitched rectangle die, I cut a piece of white cardstock, which I adhered on the inside and a piece of orange cardstock for the card front.  I placed the Inlay Heart Die (Poppy Stamps) on the orange cardstock, die cut it, and then adhered the orange piece to the purple card front.  Next, using the same Inlay Heart die , I cut a piece of the decorative paper.   Then I carefully glued the pieces into the card front leaving the heart areas the color ...

A Very So-FISH-Ticated Card

Image
Hello everyone.  I had to make a "fish/sea" card for my card swapping group and I thought I would take you along on my process.  I'm using supplies I have had in my stash for some time but most of them are still available to buy.  Cool!   I started by making a top folding A2 card base.  Then I needed paper for the "water" look.  I found a paper pad in my stash called Sweet Nectar from K&Company  which has papers with a textured look but without any actual texture to the paper.  This way, I can stamp and color without any problems.  I adhered the light blue to the card front. Next, I die cut a piece of white cardstock with a 4" x 5.25" stitched rectangle die. Then I die cut it again using the Confetti Plate die by Spellbinders .  This will be my top layer. Since I want to stamp in the circle sections, I placed it on top of my card front and lightly traced where I plan to stamp. Next, using my Misti, ...
