Retro Rubber Challenge #70 - Back To School

Image
Hello everyone and Happy Thursday!  I hope everyone is well.  It's been a crazy week here.  Ruy and I had a photo exhibition last weekend at the Belle Epoque Cultural Center here in town, which we did as a benefit for a charity.  It was nicely received and was a great feeling to see everyone's reactions to our photos.  I will try to get a post done this weekend about the show.  Of course afterward, I got sick for a few days, but am finally back up and running.  Today is Brasil's Independence Day so everything is closed and I finally found some time to do a new blog post.   Yes, 2nd post about "back to school".  This time for the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog  -  I started with a piece of white cardstock.  Using some washi tape I taped down the "Numerals" stencil (TCW200S) by The Crafter's Workshop .  Next, using a mini blending tool (Ranger) with some inks from Reverse Confetti ( Piggy Bank, Salsa , an...

A StenDoodled Birthday Card For My Brother!!

Image
Good morning everyone.  I hope everyone survived their Thanksgiving (if they celebrated) and their Black Friday shopping (if they did any).  We normally do some sort of Thanksgiving dinner here with friends but this year it was just a pizza with hopes of a turkey dinner with all the fixings soon.   As for Black Friday, you cannot beat the 30% off that Simon Says Stamp gave on Thursday and was able to finally get 1 die and 3 stamp sets that I have had on my wish list. On Friday (at 6am my time) Ellen Hutson had a great sale and I was able to add some Inchie Arts products and 2 WPlus9 sets I have been wanting.  There was plenty more that I wanted but I kept my wallet in check. What bargains or deals did you find?  I'd love to know! Now for today's card.  It seems my parents scheduled the arrival of their children around major holidays.  LOL.  My birthday is Christmas Eve and my brother's is Thanksgiving.  Of course he always got bir...

Art Squares - Stencil and Color Your Own Piece of Jewelry

Image
Hello everyone!!  Happy Election Day!  I do believe that this is going to be a long and very interesting day and, since I am 3 hours ahead of the states, I will probably not know who won until tomorrow morning!   At least the sun is out and it will be a beautiful day.  Gotta think positive...right?  So for Day 6 of The Daily Marker and the 30 Day Coloring Challenge I decided to go in a different direction.  Actually, I kinda veered way off course and used an Art Square by Inchie Arts  to make a simple necklace.  Art Squares are precision cut mattboard, available in many different sizes, and are perfect to use with ANY medium!  To see all the different ways you can use an Art Square check out the Inchie Arts blog HERE .   Now...to make the necklace - I started by placing a 2" Art Square on my work surface with the Crazed stencil ( StencilGirl Products ) on top of the Art Square.  I then traced the design I wanted with a...

Quick Stenciled Thank You Cards

Image
TGIF everyone!!  What a crazy week this has been.  Crazy in that no matter what I tried to get started or finished, something else jumped in my way and I got derailed!  I am really looking forward to a nice easy going weekend.  I hope!!     Yesterday a bunch of packages had to go out and I wanted to include a "thank you" note but I did not want to spend forever making a card.  While I was cleaning up my station I noticed a pile of stencils from StencilGirl Products sitting next to my case of distress inks and...well...this idea popped into my head.  I made 4 cards in less than 15 minutes - and so can you - let me show you how easy this is! I started with a scrap piece of white cardstock that was laying around.  I also grabbed a bunch of my mini distress inks (salty ocean, seedless preserves, cracked pistachio, fired brick, mustard seed, spiced marmalade, and blueprint sketch) and a bunch of stencils from StencilGirl Products . ...

Woven Ribbons Mixed Media Note Cards with Frantic Stamper and Stencil Girl

Happy Monday everyone.  Does anyone actually like Mondays?  Maybe people that don't have to work or go to school enjoy them?  LOL.  Yesterday was a very lazy day for me.  It rained most of the day and other than make a few cards and chill with lots of dogs, I did nothing else!!  I like days like that.   Today's card comes out of a project I did for StencilGirl Products for their blog, StencilGirl Talk.  Back in May, 2014, I made some Easy Peasy Mixed Media Note Cards , which, between you and me, really came out great!!  Yesterday, as I was going through a box, I found a bunch of extra pieces from that and other StencilGirl projects I had done.   Hmmmm.....all these colors...and designs...what to do with them?  Then I remembered that I had two interesting dies from Frantic Stamper and my mind my started to run away with ideas!!   For today's card I used a die called Woven Ribbons Card Panel Die and one of my pro...

Snowy Christmas Lightbulb Ornaments

Image
Hello everyone.  Today I have a really cute card using a stencil and some rubber stamps. Last time I was in the states I went to a rubber stamp show and bought a bunch of little Christmas Village stamps from DRS Designs to make a winter scene.  I already had this project forming in my head - I saw the light bulb stencil by Carolyn Dube from the April 2014 StencilGirl StencilClub Kit in my head....I saw these little images forming into a Christmas scene in my head....but it took several months to get this project out of my head!     To make this card I started by cutting a piece of white cardstock 4" x 5.25".  Then I masked off the top and center of the light bulb with post it notes, placed the stencil down on the paper and, using a dauber and some black paint, colored in the outline of the light bulb.  I did this 3 times at different heights. Next up I masked off the area below the screw part of the bulb, placed it back over each of the ...

More Mother's Day Inspiration

Image
Hello everyone.  Thanks so much for all the comments and views to my post this past Sunday for the CYCI Mother's Day Inspiration card .   While working on that card, another idea popped into my head - the card above.  This time I used a 3" white art square from Inchie Arts .   I love this product!! It is an artist grade matboard and I love how it stands up to any medium I might be using - dry to wet.   I StenDoodled the umbrella in the same way as the previous card - traced the umbrella from the Rain stencil with a Copic Multi Liner.  Then went back in with the Slices 6 stencil and then the Doodle It Inchie stencil - all from StencilGirl Products .  Colored it in with my Inktense Watercolor Pencils and a water brush.  The colors do not bleed on the matboard and get absorbed very nicely.  I then applied some Diamond Glaze from Judikins over the umbrella and set it aside to dry. While it was drying, I stamped the Flowers in Bloo...

Can You Case It No. 67 - Mother's Day Inspiration

Image
Hello everyone.  I hope you guys had a great week.  My week has been a bit crazy.  Ruy left for NYC to take care of some business, leaving me here alone in the countryside of Sao Paulo for the next 2 weeks!  Just me, 5 dogs, 3 cats, and a lot of time on my hands.  So, I am getting a few projects that have been festering in my head done and watching a few movies he would never watch - like Sharknado.  Trust me...do NOT watch this.  LOL Today is Sunday, which means it is also Can You Case It day. This week's challenge, CYCI No. 67 , is all about Mother's Day.  A few weeks ago I came across a card on Pinterest that I loved.  As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to re-do it as a StenDoodle with a few of my favorite stencils from StencilGirl Products .  It has been ages since I picked up a stencil and it felt great to be using a few again.  I am really pleased with how it came out and I hope you guys are too. Below is the card th...
