For The Best Dad I Ever Saw...

Image
Hello everyone!  How are y'all doing?  If you don't already know this, I live in the countryside of Sao Paulo, Brasil, where Covid-19 is now the worst in the world.  Just to let you know, we are fine, have food, flour, yeast, meat, and even toilet paper.  Other than going to the supermarket, we are staying indoors where the 7 dogs keep me busy.       Today's Design Team project is for  Challenge No. 143 on the  If You Give A Crafter A Cookie Challenge Blog  and it's all about tools.  If you wish to play along with us, which I hope you do, below  is the  inspiration photo that the Design Team had to work with when making their projects.   When I see a toolbox I immediately think of my dad. When I was growing up we lived in a house without a finished basement and I remember working with him to finish it.  Sheetrock, spackle, nails, and his toolbox.  Happy to say that I now own many o...

A Zombie Loving Coffee Addict ATC with Vera Lane Studio

Image
As some of you know, I love Vera Lane Studio digital stamps - they are fun, quirky, odd and there are lots of zombie and coffee themed images to play with. This month, in the  Vera Lane Studio Facebook Group , there is a Coffee ATC Challenge.   Coffee and zombies.  My two favorite words.  But a coffee loving zombie is so much more fun and that is what today's project is all about.  Hence the coffee and zombie! As much as I would have liked to have used real coffee stained paper for this project, I have yet to try that, so I started by printing a free coffee stained digital paper I had in my stash and then cutting it to an ATC size - 2.5" x 3.5".  I also distressed the edges with vintage photo distress ink (Holtz/Ranger).   Using the Calacas Digi Stamp Bundle - I printed two of the zombie images, along with some of the coffee cups, and the phrase.  I then fussy cut the zombie, the flower from the 2nd zombie, and 5 of the cup...

Day of the Dead / Dia de Los Muertos / Dia dos Mortos with Vera Lane Studio

Image
Hello everyone and Happy Day of the Dead or Dia de Los Muertos (Spanish) or Dia dos Mortos (Portuguese) - depending on where you live or what language you speak.  I love this holiday and I love the idea of a special day to remember and celebrate those that have passed before us.  Most people consider this a Mexican holiday but it is celebrated in many other parts of the world.  In the states it's called All Souls Day but parts of the USA in the Midwest and south also celebrate Day of the Dead because of the Mexican influence.  Here in Brasil it's a  public holiday, also called Finados, and is similar to other Day of the Dead celebrations.  Many people go to cemeteries and churches with flowers and candles and offer prayers. The celebration is intended to honor the dead. Memorializing the dead draws from indigenous, African and European Catholic origins. There is a lot to learn about the Day of the Dead and, if you are interested, you can click on...

If You Give A Crafter A Cookie Challenge - No. 105 - Halloween Card With Vera Lane Studio

Image
Hello everyone and Happy Friday!!  I wanted to make a quick post to show you guys another Halloween card that I made for the If You Give A Crafter A Cookie Challenge Blog - Challenge No. 105.  This is the 2nd card I made for this challenge because I love (and miss) Halloween.  The first card was yesterday and you can check that card out { HERE }.   For today's card I used two digital items.  The first was a digital image from Vera Lane Studio on Etsy.  I love her images...quirky and fun.  The image I used is called October  and it comes with the girl holding the pumpkin and two phrases.  I started by printing out the image two times, coloring them with BIC Markers....one of them fully colored and just the pumpkin on the other.  I fussy cut her out and then I fussy cut just the pumpkin.  I then went back and added some Firefly Stickles (Ranger) to her eyebrows and some Orange Peel Stickles (Ranger) to her dress and h...

Halloween Card with the October Vera Lane Studio

Image
Hello everyone!!   I hope y'all are having an awesome week so far.  We're starting to get some warmer days here, which is making me very happy!!  I love the hot weather and the sun!  I am in a card swapping group on Facebook and one of the cards I picked this month was a "jack-o-lantern" card.  I had just seen this adorable digi set from Vera Lane Studio on Etsy and knew she would be perfect for this card.   I started by printing the October Digi stamps  in the sizes that I wanted.  Not knowing where this card was taking me, I duplicated the images in case I wanted to pop dot the witches hat.   Better to print them all now.   .   After playing around with different dies I decided to go round.  I die cut the image with the hat using the largest die from the Standard Circles set (Spellbinders S4-114).  I also used the same die to cut a piece of black fun foam to layer the image on...

If You Give A Crafter A Cookie Challenge No. 101 - FISH!

Image
Hello everyone and Happy Hump Day!!!  Man, this year is flying by.  I cannot believe it's almost September!  Crazy. But, I have a fun card for you today - all about fish! The If You Give A Crafter A Cookie Challenge Blog has a new challenge - No. 101 - and this is the inspiration photo we need to work with -  I decided to use a digi-stamp set that I recently purchased from Vera Lane Studio  on Etsy called Ocean 11 , which has nothing to do with George Clooney and a lot to do with 10 fish and a shell.  LOL I started by making an A2 card base of white cardstock to which I adhered a piece of blue cardstock (for the water).  I then took 3 of the fish and sized them so it looked like they were each fish food for the other, printed it on a piece of white cardstock, and die cut it with a stitched rectangle die.   Next...I colored the fish using a variety of BIC markers.  Then, using the River Rocks 6 stencil by StencilG...
