Crafty Elves' Countdown To Christmas - November 2020 Edition

Image
Hello everyone and welcome to the November 2020 Edition of the Crafty Elves' Countdown to Christmas that I do each month, on the 25th, with some other Crafty Elves - Debra of Meticulosity and  Lisa of Life of a BZscrapper .   Each month we bring you 4 ideas for Christmas/Holiday cards with the idea that, by the end of the year, you will have enough to send out to those that deserve to receive a handmade card.  Links to a more detailed step by step for each card is at the end of this post.       Card No. 1 The idea for this card has been floating around in my head for at least 2 years.  I am terrible at putting things back where they belong so when I would find the snowmen stamps, I would not be able to find the dies.  Then I would find the dies but not the stamps.  LOL I started by making a top-folding slimline card, 4.24" x 8.75" to which I aligned dotted line washi tape along the bottom. I die cut the Citiscape Die (Memor...

Crafty Elves Countdown to Christmas - October 2020 Edition

Image
Hello everyone and welcome to the October 2020 Edition of The Crafty Elves Countdown to Christmas, but I like to call it the Countdown to the Holidays since I also make Hanukkah/Chanukah cards for my family and friends.   The other Crafty Elves ( Debra and Lisa ) have also been busy making their cards, which you can find on their blogs by clicking on the links below.  I hope you can find some time to show them some love too. Debra - Meticulosity Lisa - Life of a BZ Scrapper Now on to my cards for October! Cards No. 1 For these 3 cards, I used images from  The Happy Holiday Tags Bundle Digital set  from The Paper Rabbit on Etsy.  You might know The Paper Rabbit as Lindsay Ostrom -  Creator of Cuteness  - one of my favorite designers.  The bundle comes with both Christmas and Hanukkah images.  Back for the August 2020 Crafty Elf post , I made some cards using the Christmas sheet and this month, as promised, I made some Hanukkah cards. The...

Witches Brew - Slimline Halloween Card

Image
Hello everyone!  I should be making holiday cards for my Crafty Elf post on the 25th but my brain is still in Halloween mode!  The other day I made THIS Halloween card using the Happy Haunting Chipboard Elements from the Happy Haunting Collection from My Mind's Eye, that I had in my stash.  I wanted to use more of the chipboard elements and was thinking of cards to make when my eyes settled on the piece that says "Witches Brew" and I immediately thought "coffee".  And that is how this card came to be.       I started by making a top-folding 4" x 9" slimline card using black cardstock.  I also printed some of the digital papers from the Halloween Digital Set No. 001646 from VectoriaDesigns on Etsy. Using the largest die from the Slim Stitched Rectangle Die Set from Pinkfresh Studio , I cut the paper with the larger checkered design and adhered this to the card front. Next, using the Large Coffee On the Go die from Memory Box, I die cut t...

Spooky Slimline Halloween Card

Image
Hello y'all.  How is everyone doing?  We had a bit of a hurricane here last week - tiles flew off the roof and we had a bit of flooding inside the house but now, a week later, all is back to normal.    It's that time - a new challenge over on the  If You Give A Crafter a Cookie Challenge Blog .  We are up to Challenge No. 153 and it's all about Halloween, or bats, or witches, or scary cats, or even the colors of Halloween.  Here is the inspiration photo the Design Team had to work with should you wish to join us! I had a bunch of ideas in my head but then I started to clean and I found this in my stash -  It's the Happy Haunting Chipboard Elements  from the Happy Haunting Collection from My Mind's Eye.  From 2013!  And I had to use it for this card.     I decided to make a slimline card using the 6 letters that spell out S P O O K Y.  It's the perfect type of card since the letters each measure about 1 3/8...

Crafty Elves Countdown to Christmas - September 2020 Edition

Image
Hello everyone!  Welcome to the August 2020 Edition of The Crafty Elves Countdown to Christmas.  Can you believe that Christmas is in 91 days!!  Crazy!  All I want for Christmas is a COVID-19 vaccine and world peace.  What do you want for Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa?   Debra  and Lisa , the other Crafty Elves, have also been busy making their September 2020 Christmas cards for you and I hope you will find some time to show them some love also!  Links directly to their September cards are at the end of this post.  Now, on to my cards -  Card Idea No. 1 I made this slimline card using Christmas Circles from Anthony's Paper Craft .  When I first saw the circle images in this set, I thought of the words HO, HO, HO and had to figure out a way to use this idea in a card, which I did!   I made a  3.5" x 8.5" top-folding slimline card made with white cardstock to which I adhered a piece of red cardstock. Next, I printed ...

You're A Gem of a Friend

Hello y'all.  I hope everyone is okay and trying to stay as safe as possible.  2020 has certainly been a trying year for all of us.  We are moving out of winter into spring but considering how hot it is here I think we jumped right to summer.  But I do love the heat!  It's that time - a new challenge over on the If You Give A Crafter a Cookie Challenge Blog .  We are up to Challenge No. 151 and it's all about gems...diamonds...shiny rocks...or, maybe, a rainbow! Here is the inspiration photo the Design Team had to work with should you wish to join us! Although I used some older items from my stash to make this card, there are plenty of newer items on the market that can be used in their places if you want to recreate the card.   I started by making a top-folding A2 card base using white cardstock.  Then I covered it with a piece of decorative scrapbook paper.  I also cut another piece of white cardstock, 4" x 5.25", and embossed i...
