Yes, It's a Holiday - World Tourism Day

Image
Hello everyone and welcome to a new Yes, It's A Holiday blog collaboration that I do with my friends Debra and Lori over on our Instagram pages.  But, at times, I also do a step-by-step here on my blog.   Today we are celebrating World Tourism Day .  As  National Today  explains, World Tourism Day helps raise awareness of the need for accessible tourism all over the planet and that today's holiday is the result of the work done by the UN's specialized agency, the World Tourism Organization (WTO).  I LOVE to travel but, sadly, I have not left the country since Oct. 2019 due to ongoing issues globally.  There are still so many places I want to visit and photograph. Anyway.... I was trying to think of a fun idea for today's holiday, and all I kept thinking about were those fun old-time/vintage-type luggage labels.   I jumped on Etsy, did a search, and found this fun set of vintage-type Junk Journal Travel Ephemera from Polka ...

Yes, It's A Holiday - Buy A Book Day

Image
Hello everyone and welcome to another "Yes, It's A Holiday" collab that I do with my friends Debra and Lori.  Today we are celebrating International Buy A Book Day .   I love to read and really miss a big box bookstore.  We have a few here but the books are normally expensive so, sadly, I read mostly on my iPad.  According to National Today , this day is celebrated to raise awareness about the dying book-buying and book-reading culture.  Sadly, the U.S. adult population that read books has declined by 7% over the past decade.  And all the insanity of book burnings and books being removed libraries in 2022 is not helping matters.   Anyhoo...since I will not be getting to the mall today to buy a book, I decided to make some "tag" bookmarks instead, to be used with the books I will buy in the future.  And I love how these turned out.  I've had this set of  Slimline Tags  dies in my stash for some time now and thought t...

Yes, It's A Holiday - National Cheese Pizza Day

Image
Hey everyone and welcome to a new "Yes, It's A Holiday" blog post that I do with my friends Debra and Lori.  Today we are celebrating  National Cheese Pizza Day  and I am not complaining.  I love pizza.  I can eat it every day.  The problem here is that you can't really get pizza until after 7pm and you have to buy the whole pie.  Really hard to find a place that sells slices.  UGH!   According to National Today , National Cheese Pizza Day is celebrated annually on September 5th, and it's time for you to celebrate in cheese-pizza style.  Each year, more than 2 billion pounds of pizza cheese is produced in the U.S. alone. T o read more about National Cheese Pizza Day, just click on the link below -  https://nationaltoday.com/national-cheese-pizza-day/ To help celebrate...I made 2 cards.  I made the first one, which I liked, but I did not "love" it.  I felt the mustache paper I used on the card front disappeared....

Equality For All Card Collaboration with Misty, The Jolly Fat Elf

Image
**Disclaimer - If you have issues with the idea of Equality For All people - no matter their race, skin color, religious affiliation, their level of income or education, or how they identify sexually - then you might not want to read this post.  But, I hope you do stay and read it.   ------------- Hello everyone and welcome to the first Equality For All collaboration between myself and Misty, The Jolly Fat Elf (and, hopefully, others down the road).  Misty and I collaborated in June for Pride Month and, out of that, came this "Equality For All" idea.  We both feel that ALL humans should be treated with the same respect and equality no matter their race, skin color, how they identify sexually, their gender, their income level, what country they come from, what language they speak, or their religious affiliation is.  WE DON'T CARE!  As long as they are decent people, respect others, do no harm to children or animals, and try to make this planet a ...

Hello everyone and welcome to the August 2022 edition of The Crafty Elves' Countdown to Christmas.  I took last month off but I am back this month with 4 new Christmas card ideas.    3 of them use a digital stamp so, if you want to recreate them, the cost will not break the bank.  If you are just joining us, on the 25th of each month, the Crafty Elves -  Debra of  Meticulosity , Lisa of  Life of a BZScrapper , and myself - post {up to} 4 Christmas/Holiday card ideas.  Instead of stressing in November to make holiday cards, we make them each month so, at the end of the year, we are ready to send them out.  And we hope to inspire you to do the same.   Links to Debra's and Lisa's projects, as well as links to all of our social media pages, are at the end of this post.    There are even more photos of the individual cards over on my IG page too.   Now, on to my ideas for this month. Card No. 1 The idea for thi...

Yes, It's a Holiday - National Camera Day

Image
Hello everyone and welcome to another "Yes, It is a Holiday" or "Yes, It's a Holiday" blog post.  Today, the holiday crew - Debra, Lori, and myself, are celebrating National Camera Day , a day to celebrate the fact that photography, once so complicated and expensive, is now part of almost all of our everyday lives.   Did you know that the word "photography" is based on two Greek words that, when put together, mean "writing with light"?  I didn't.  As an avid photographer, I have many stamps, dies, and papers related to photography and photos and had to take part in today's holiday.  So, to  help celebrate I made this fun card using a few RETIRED products from  MFT Stamps/Die-Namics  - Die-namics Cute Cameras 2, Die-namics Precious Polaroids, and Picture This Stamp Set.  Maybe one day they will re-release them.   I made a top-folding A2 card base of white cardstock to which I adhered a piece of decorative paper from my st...
