Freshly Made Sketches Challenge 225 with Technique Junkies

Image
Hello everyone.  Hope everyone has fun plans for the weekend.  We have a class next weekend in the store so I will be sticking around here getting things ready and cleaning up.  Today's card is for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge No. 225 .  I've had this image sitting around begging to be used and today was it's day!    Here is the sketch that was the inspiration for this card -  I started with a 5" x 7" white cardstock base, side folding.  Because this card is meant to be included with a wedding gift, or check, I went with a larger card size.  To the front I adhered a piece of metallic silver cardstock.  Then I checked through my stash of papers and found this beautiful paper called Diamond from SEI's White Elegance Collection and I cut a piece 3" x 6.5".  I adhered this to a piece of black cardstock, giving only a slight border, and adhered this to the card front on the right side.    Then I grabbed ...

SIP Challenge 36 - Perfect Peacock Thank You Card

Image
Good morning everyone.  TGIF!!  I know it's Friday because the paper was laying in the driveway this morning and the dog, for once, did not pee it!! Maybe that means the weekend will be a good one.  Today I am breaking away for the day from my 4" square note cards to show a card I made last night for the Stamp Ink Paper Card Challenge No. 36 .  It's one of their Card Maker's Choice challenges and I like them - no rules.   I've been wanting to use this Perfect Peacock stamp since the day I saw it in the Stampin Up catalog - and I finally got my chance.  I started with a top folding A2 white cardstock card base.  I cut a piece of black cardstock - 4.25" x 5.5" - and adhered this to the front of my card base.  Then I cut a piece of cream mixed media paper  - 3.75" x 5" - and heat embossed the peacock with Versamark ink and Black Sparkle embossing powder by Ranger.  I also stamped the "thank you" phrase from the Because I Care by St...

You Make My Heart Smile with Stampin Up

Image
Hello everyone!  I loved making today's card.  It's such a simple, easy, and nice card to give to anyone that makes you smile.  It could be someone you love, or the babysitter, or a neighbor.  I think this would be a beautiful and perfect note card for a small gift too.  Hope you do too. To make this really simple card - start with a white cardstock card base of 4" x 8", scored at 4", and top folding.  To this I adhered a piece of patterned paper, 4" x 4", to the card front.  To this I adhered a piece of metallic blue cardstock, 3 5/8" x 3 5/8".   Next I cut a piece of white cardstock, 3.5" x 3.5", and stamped the smaller flower from the Timeless Love set in the lower right corner with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I stamped the phrase "You Make My Heart Smile" next to the image, also using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Then I colored in the image with some Copics.  Then, to the give the card some depth, I adhered...

A Good Friend Is Like A Warm Cup of Coffee Card

Hello everyone.  I cannot believe how many of you loved the cards the past two days that I made with the die by Frantic Stamper.  Several of you told me you were going to go buy the die just from seeing my cards.  That makes me feel great. I wish I made a commission.  LOL.  There is another die, also by Frantic Stamper, that I am doing something cool with too.  But that will have to wait till next week.  Several people also mentioned that this would be a good video to make and...well....I might just give it a shot.     For today, I have a v ery simple card to make - start with a card base of Kraft paper, 4" x 8", scored at 4" and top folding. Adhere a piece of dark brown cardstock (darker than the Kraft color) - 3.75" x 3.75" - to the card front.  Next, cut a piece of white card stock and a piece of brown fun foam - 3.5" x 3.5". We'll use the fun foam soon. I started with the phrase.  I wanted the phrase broken up into...

Woven Ribbons Note Cards with Frantic Stamper - Part II

Hello everyone.  I hope everyone survived their Monday and that their week has started well.  Yesterday it pretty much rained all day and I had some issues with a card.  Did you ever try to make the simplest of cards and it's just one problem after another?  I had that yesterday.  I did finally get the card done and will post it tomorrow.  But for today we have a very short post!!   So, remember the card I made yesterday (click HERE to the card) and all those little pieces of black paper I had?  Well I figured out what to do with them. After I removed all the small pieces on yesterday's card I had the one big outline piece. So I made an A2 card and adhered a piece of black cardstock to the card front.  Then I adhered this outline piece to the black cardstock and then inserted each of the black pieces that I saved from the first card.   Now, I know you are asking....why use the pieces of black cardstock if the card base is ...

Woven Ribbons Mixed Media Note Cards with Frantic Stamper and Stencil Girl

Happy Monday everyone.  Does anyone actually like Mondays?  Maybe people that don't have to work or go to school enjoy them?  LOL.  Yesterday was a very lazy day for me.  It rained most of the day and other than make a few cards and chill with lots of dogs, I did nothing else!!  I like days like that.   Today's card comes out of a project I did for StencilGirl Products for their blog, StencilGirl Talk.  Back in May, 2014, I made some Easy Peasy Mixed Media Note Cards , which, between you and me, really came out great!!  Yesterday, as I was going through a box, I found a bunch of extra pieces from that and other StencilGirl projects I had done.   Hmmmm.....all these colors...and designs...what to do with them?  Then I remembered that I had two interesting dies from Frantic Stamper and my mind my started to run away with ideas!!   For today's card I used a die called Woven Ribbons Card Panel Die and one of my pro...

Bubbles Border Note Card with Lost Coast Designs

Good day all!  I am exhausted and it's only 1 pm here.  Yesterday our friend Mara Domene taught a traditional bookbinding class on how to make a Moleskin notebook.  We had a full class and everyone had a great time. Afterwards was dinner at a new restaurant in town called Kabuum Bar .  Outdoor seating, live music with an amazing musician, Saray Tainan , and the burgers were great. The owner used to have a hamburger restaurant in town and he remembered me as "the American" that used to love his burgers.  At 2 am thunder and lightening woke me up and then it turns out that we turned the clocks ahead last night - so I lost an hour of sleep!!  Grrrrr..... I started today's very colorful card with a white cardstock base, 4" x 8", scored at 4" and top folding, to which I adhered a piece of black cardstock.  Then I grabbed another one of my favorite stamps  called Bubbles Border by Lost Coast Designs. Because the stamp is so long and I wanted to...
