KCS Designs by Kim Design Team Project - Birthday and Notecard 3D Cards

Image
Hey everyone.  Today is my first Design Team Project for  KCS Designs by Kim .  The owner, Kim, has a store on Etsy that sells digital junk journal papers, mixed media papers, clip art, brushes, and other digital items that are perfect for cardmaking, album making, junk journals, or any other papercraft idea. I hardly ever make traditional junk journals, but I love to use digital junk journal papers and collections in my mini albums, photo folios, and cards.  Today I am sharing some cards I made using papers from the Mixed Media Flowers  kit - a set of 12 beautiful journal pages of mixed media flower designs.      I've also have a video showing how I made 2 other cards using the same collection, and you can watch it below or on my YouTube Channel - World of Michael Trent .   KCS Designs by Kim is also having a Summer Sale - 45% off the entire store - through July 31, 2025. Card 1 I found an image I wanted to use.  Then I print...

How To Achieve a "Glass Effect" on Cards and Scrapbook Pages | Digital Image and Paper

Image
Have you ever wanted to achieve the look of glass on an image for a card?   The other day I bought a set of digital wildflower images from the XoXoLine store on Etsy, and one of the images was a broken lightbulb with a simple flower growing out it.  I wanted to use this image for a card, and I wanted the lightbulb to look like glass by using Diamond Glaze.   Links to any products I used are at the end of this blog post.   Here is a step-by-step for the card I made. The first thing I did was to print the lightbulb image at 70% on white cardstock and die-cut it using a 3.25" x 4.5" stitched rectangle die.  Using the same die, I cut 4 more pieces using scraps of white cardstock.   I adhered all the pieces together, keeping the image of the lightbulb on top.  The reason for the layers of cardstock is to make the image more sturdy so that, when you apply the Diamond Glaze, the cardstock does not bend or warp.   I colored the ...

Say Cheese | House Mouse | Angie Blom | Woodblock Wednesday

Image
Welcome to a new Woodblock Wednesday, the day of the week that we use a woodblock stamp (or more) to make a card or other project.  The other day, while going through my stash, I found the Say Cheese rubber stamp from House Mouse.  The image is of Maxwell, the mouse, taking a photo while holding a piece of cheese in the air.  As soon as I saw it, I knew it would pair perfectly with the "Say Cheese" digital paper from Angie Blom Digital Designs.     Links to everything I used are at the end of this post.  Below is a step-by-step for the card I made, and I swear, you can make this in less than 15 minutes.  I made a top-folding A2 card using black cardstock. I printed the paper that says "say cheese" all over it from the Say Cheese Digital Paper Collection from Angie Blom Digital Designs, and I die-cut a piece using a 4" x 5.25" stitched rectangle die.  I adhered a piece of black fun foam to the back of the "say cheese" paper and adhered this to the...

Happy Pork of July | Woodblock Wednesday Card | Hambo Stamps

Image
Hello everyone, and welcome to another Woodblock Wednesday -  the day of the week we set aside to give some love to woodblock stamps that we have not used in some time.     I am joining my friend Amy, who posts a Woodblock Wednesday card to her  blog  on the last Wednesday of each month.  Check out her blog post... HERE ...to see her card and the giveaway she has if you enter a card of your own.  This will be a short post to share a card that I have been wanting to make for years.  Today's card uses 2 woodblock stamps from Hambo Stamps, which sadly closed in 2014.  Neither stamp has a name but one is a pig in a hammock, and the other is the sentiment "Happy "Pork" of July" - both circa 2009.   Now, between you and me, I am not happy with the card because I used a piece of blue cardstock as my base and the markers I used came out much darker than I wanted.  I will be making this card again soon using white cardstock ...

Crafty Elves Countdown to Christmas | June 2025 Edition |

Image
Hello everyone, and welcome to the June 2025 Edition of the Crafty Elves Countdown to Christmas with  Deb  and  Lisa .  Can you believe that half the year is gone already?  If you are new here, on the 25th of each month, we (the Crafty Elves) post one or more holiday cards in hopes that we inspire you to start  making your own so that, come November, we have cards ready to mail.   For my card this month, I used one of the stamps from the Along the Same Lines set from Stampin Up.  This is a set from 2005 and has 4 tall stamps.  One of them is a stamp of 3 tall Christmas trees and, before I list it on my Brasilian destash page, I wanted to make a card using it.   I made a top-folding A2 card using white cardstock to which I adhered a piece of textured red cardstock.   Using a 4" x 5.25" stitched rectangle die, I die-cut a piece of white cardstock, stamped the Christmas trees stamp 3 times using a stamp positioner, an...

Crafty Elves Countdown to Christmas | May 2025 Edition | Hero Arts

Image
Hello everyone, and welcome to the May 2025 Edition of the Crafty Elves Countdown to Christmas with  Deb  and  Lisa .  If you are new here, on the 25th of each month, we (the Crafty Elves) post one or more holiday cards in hopes that we inspire you to start  making your own so that, come November, we have cards ready to mail.   So, during the month, as I was cleaning out boxes, bags, and bins of stuff in my stash, I found this vintage stamp from Hero Arts, and I had to make these cards using it.   These 2 cards use the Snowman and Snowflakes (K5533) stamp from Hero Arts from 2011. It's so old, I can't even find a sample card made by anyone. I made 2 top-folding A2 card bases using white cardstock and adhered a piece of dark blue cardstock to the front of each one.     I cut 2 pieces of lighter blue cardstock, 3 7/8" x 5 1/4", and embossed them using the Christmas Wishes embossing folder from Crafter's Companion. ...

Coffee Card Collab with Deb | Coffee Loving Paper Crafters Coffee Hop

Image
Hey y'all.  Today, my friend Deb and I are doing a CCC, a "Coffee Card Collab", to help spread the word about the 2025 Spring Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop .  There are lots of Sponsors and prizes to be won!  Deb and I are NOT affiliated or taking part in the hop - just spreading the news.    For my card, I dug out a very old stamp set called Espress Yourself from Stampin Up. It's wood-mounted and from 2002.  Today is the first time I trimmed the images, adhered them to the wood blocks, and used them to make this slimline coffee card. WOW.  Perhaps you have stamps that you can use tif you want to make this card or one like it.     This is how I made this slimline card.   I made a top-folding slimline card base using white cardstock, 3.5" x 8.5". I printed one of the papers from the Coffee Lovers Digital Paper Pack from Graciellie Designs and adhered it to the card front.   I die-cut a piece of Kraft cardstock using a 2.5...

I Made "Rosa Kelly's Easy Hinges Mini Album - Volume 2" Blank Book | Coral Reef Mermaid Book

Image
Hello everyone.  A few weeks ago, I was checking out some videos on YouTube...SHOCKER...and Rosa Kelly's "Easy Hinges Mini Album Tutorial - Volume 2" popped up in my feed.  This is a tutorial for a BLANK book, meaning she teaches you how to make the book but decorating it and adding things to it is all up to you.     So, I made it.  Then I added a few things to it and decorated it.  This book has space for 49 photos of various sizes and the front and back pockets have space for even more.  The book measures 8.5" x 7" x 2.5".  In Rosa's video, she uses a 3.5" spine, but I wanted a smaller one.   I added the pockets and photo mats on the inside front and back covers. I added the pockets on the front of the first page, on the right and left sides of the gatefold, and I added the photo mat for a 5" x 7" photo.   On the back of Page 1, I used ephemera and magnets to make a closure for the top flap.  I added a bellyb...
