Paper Players Challenge 310 - Happiness is....Cupcakes!

Hello everyone - again!  I know...2 posts in one day.  I made another card today so that I could play along with some of my friends on The Paper Players Challenge Blog.  Since the challenge ends tomorrow at Noon (PST), I decided to upload this now in case someone wants to make a card too.  This week's Challenge No. 310 is a sketch by Nance - and a really easy one to work with -

After going through my stash of papers to find a design that was talking to me, I settled on a cupcake theme for my card and I already knew the perfect sentiment for it too.  I started with a top folding A2 card base of Kraft cardstock. Then, using a solid pink cardstock that went well with the designer paper, I cut two pieces, 3.5" x 4" and 1 5/8" x 4", distressed the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, and adhered them to the card front, following the sketch.  Then, using the design on the back of Cupcakes Creme by Arte Facil Artesanato, a Brasilian paper company, I cut two pieces, 3.25" x 3 7/8" and 1 3/8" x 3 7/8", distressed the edges again with Vintage Photo, and adhered them to the center of the pink pieces already on the card front.

Next up was the sentiment.  What do cupcakes do for me?  They bring me happiness.  LOL.  I used the sentiment "Happiness is..." from the Happiness Is set by Unity Stamp Co. (one of my favorite companies).  I also needed a banner die for the sentiment so I pulled out Favor Flags by Clear & Simple Stamps. Using the same solid pink cardstock, I die cut one of the larger flags and with white cardstock, a smaller flag that I could layer over the larger flag.  I secured the white flag with a small piece of tape and, using a stamp positioner, stamped the phrase in Onyx Black Versafine ink.

I applied double sided tape to the back of the white piece and adhered it to the pink cardstock.

Then I applied double sided tape to the back of the pink cardstock, adhered it to the card front, above the cupcakes, and trimmed off the edge.

The last thing I did was to cut a piece of white cardstock, 4" x 5.25", and adhere this to the inside to be written on.  Oh, then I applied some Crystal Stickles to the frosting on all the cupcakes for a shimmer.

Done!!  I swear...really easy and, to be honest, a really cool sketch to come back to again and again.  I hope you can find some time to make a card for the challenge too.  It ends tomorrow, September 2nd, at Noon (PST).  Click HERE to be taken right to the challenge page.  Until next time...

Hugs from Brasil -

Michael
