And the Flip Flops Are Drying!

Happy July 4th Weekend everyone.  I hope everyone that celebrates is having fun at a BBQ or at the beach!!  For me it is just a normal weekend making cards.  LOL.

The idea for this card came about because I live in the land of "flip flops" or, as they are called here, "chinelo de dedo".  Everyone here wears flip flops. On a daily basis.  To go everywhere.  The supermarket, the doctor, on the street.  Except, maybe, for church. And the colors range from basic colors, to crazy designs, to licensed images like Homer Simpson, Mickey Mouse, and all the Marvel heroes.  The biggest brand here, and around the world, is Havianas.  If you are interested, you can check out all the cool designs HERE.
To make the card, I started with an A2, top folding card from white cardstock.  Then I cut the dies.  I cut the clothesline twice - from kraft and white cardstock, the clothespins also from kraft cardstock, and the flip flops using colorful papers from the Artist paper pad.

Then I glued the kraft "wooden posts" sections over the same parts on the white cardstock and distressed the piece with vintage photo distress ink.

Next I inked up the clouds stamp with tumbled glass distress ink and stamped it onto a piece of white cardstock, 4" x 5 1/4".

Then I adhered the clothesline over the clouds.

Next I took two different shades of green cardstock and cut the Grassland Border a few times and adhered them to the bottom.

Then I adhered the flip flops to the clothesline, as well as the clothespins.

Next I cut the long stitched strip from the Blueprints 1 set from white cardstock, stamped the phrase "sending warm wishes" to the center of the strip, which I then adhered to the bottom, over the grass. Finally, I cut a piece of fun foam, adhered it under the card front, and then I adhered this to the card front.

Next I die cut the larger die from the Scallop Stitched Frame Set out of navy blue cardstock, which I adhered to the card front.

Now, you could just stop there and you would have this cute card -

Or, you could cut the Walking Cat by Poppy Stamps out of black cardstock, adhered it so that it looks like he is walking on the line, and have this cool card -

I hope you guys enjoyed this card.  Enjoy the rest of the weekend.  Come back on Tuesday when I will have a cool card for the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge!

Hugs from Brasil -
Michael

  2. I love this card because it's so cute and there is so much involved and it all works. I love it. I rarely wear flip flops unless it's at a beach or getting my toe nails done...which is rare. We celebrated Canada Day by doing....nuttiness....hahahaaa. I enjoyed it immensely. It's very hot here and humid, for me, up to 28C without the humidity. Give me snow any day...hahahaa
