A Perfect Time To Craft November Card Challenge | Birthday Fishes Shaker Card | Fred She Said

Hello everyone!  Welcome to the November 2026
A Perfect Time to Craft Card Challenge.  This is an "anything goes" card challenge that begins on the 1st of each month with two sponsors each month.  The Design Team shares what they have made and then, if you want a chance to win one of the Sponsors' prizes, you can make a card and upload it to the card challenge blog.

For November, the Sponsors are Anne Constantly-Carding and Fred She Said Digital Designs.

This month, I made a shaker card using the Emma The Mermaid Pre-Coloured Set, but if you love to color, you can also get the Emma The Mermaid & Friends Digital Stamp Set - which is not pre-coloured.  No matter which you pick, both sets offer the background and all the images you need to make the cutest "under the sea" or "fishtank/fish" card.

So, let's make the card(s).  Please remember that the dies and foam tape that I used to make the card might not be the same size as what you are using, so always measure before cutting.

  • Using Pages on my MAC, I made a template for a 4.25" x 5.5" card front, imported the underwater scene, and then I imported the different digital images I wanted in the scene - Emma the Mermaid, of course, the fish with the balloons, and some smaller fish - and I printed the image twice on white cardstock, and trimmed each of the images.
  • I made a top-folding A2 card using white cardstock and adhered one of the underwater scenes to the front.
  • To make the frame for our card front, I adhered a 3.25" x 4.4" stitched rectangle die to the center of the second image and die-cut it.  We will use the frame for the card but keep the die-cut image for another card.
  • I turned the frame piece over, added double-sided tape to the 4 sides, measured and cut a piece of acetate to fit the window, and adhered it down.
  • I measured the sides of the frame and decided to cut double-sided foam tape at 3/8", and I adhered the 4 pieces to the front of my card front (the frame piece will sit on top).  Please measure your frame before cutting any tape.
  • Before adding shaker elements to the inside of the frame, I added 3/8" double-sided tape to the top of the 4 foam strips since my foam does not have the tape.  If your foam already has the tape, you can skip this part.  Do not remove the tape backing yet.
  • I added my shaker elements to the center of the card front, sitting inside the 4 foam tape sides.  I used real sand with some blue seed beads.  You can use sequins, beads, sand, whatever you want to add.  Then I removed the tape backing, added white glue over the tape for extra security, ran an anti-static bag over my acetate, and adhered my frame on top.
  • I placed an acrylic block on top and set it aside to fully dry.

  • Next, I typed up my sentiment "Sending Birthday Fishes", printed it, die-cut it using a stitched banner die, layered it on a blue banner, and then to the card front.

Now it's your turn to make a card.  If you do make a card, any card, remember to link it up.  You might win a prize.
