World Cardmaking Day 2025 | Masculine Card Ideas | KCS Designs by Kim DT Project

Welcome to World Cardmaking Day 2025!

Do y'all have problems coming up with card ideas for men -possibly for a birthday or for Father's Day?  I might have the solution.  The idea for these cards originated when I saw a post on my Facebook feed from Kathy's Stamping World, which used the Creative Collab Crew sketch, below.  Kathy is a Stampin' Up! rep and has amazing ideas on her page.  Go check her out!

And, if you are looking to get into cardmaking but don't want to invest a lot of money in the beginning or, maybe you don't have a lot of supplies, this card idea is a great way to get started.  A sentiment can be made on the computer if you want to add one.

For this card, I used the Vintage Mixed Media Paper Pack from KCS Designs by Kim on Etsy.  It's a masculine/vintage digital paper collection filled with clocks, antique keys, cogs, and gears.  Other collections that would be perfect for a masculine card are the Vintage Texture Journal Papers, Industrial Grunge Paper Pack, Black and White Mixed Media Paper, Vintage Numbers Junk Journal Papers, or the Vintage Journal Papers.

The KCS Designs by Kim Design Team is helping to celebrate World Cardmaking Day, and we each have different cards on our social media pages, links to which are at the end of this post.  And, to help celebrate World Cardmaking Day, everything in the KCS Designs by Kim store on Etsy is 50% off.  No coupon needed.

AND...I made a video that explains things even better.

  To make this card:

  • I made a top-folding A2 card base using kraft cardstock, and I printed two of the same design on a sheet of white cardstock.

  • I cut the area of the design I want to use to 4.25" x 5.5", giving me a little more than I will need, which I explain in the video.  I also cut a piece of black fun foam, just shy of 4.25" x 5.5", which I adhered to the back using double-sided tape.  If you use wet glue, allow it to fully dry before cutting the pieces.

The fun foam is optional.  I love the raised look on the card.
  • Next, following the sketch, above, I cut the 7 pieces.
Then I distressed the Kraft card base and the 7 pieces with Coffee Archival Ink,  and adhered them to the card front.
Lastly, I added a sentiment to the front and a piece of white cardstock, 4" x 5.25", to the inside for a message.

Here are some other ideas I made with different papers.

This is the same card as above, but with a
black cardstock base.

This card used the Vintage Numbers Junk Journal Papers
on white cardstock.

This card used the Black and White Mixed Media
papers on a black card base.

I hope you can find some time this weekend to check out what The KCS Designs by Kim Design Team has made.  All of our socials are below.
