Crafty Elves Countdown to Christmas | April 2025 Edition | Spellbinders 12 Days of Stitchmas Card

Hello everyone, and welcome to the April 2025 Edition of the Crafty Elves Countdown to Christmas with Deb and Lisa.  If you are new here, on the 25th of each month, we post one or more holiday cards.  This way, come November, we don't have to stress over making cards to send to people.  We hope to inspire you, and we hope you will join us.

This month I made a Christmas card using the dies from Day 3 from the 2024 Spellbinders 12 Days of Stitchmas Advent Calendar.  If you missed getting one of these Advent calendars or if you are still thinking about it, you can get one HERE.

Even though the dies in this "Stitchmas Advent" were meant to be stitched, I decided to use them in a different way and NOT stitch them - but bedazzled them.

While trying to come up with an idea for using this set of dies, the image below popped up in one of my feeds, and that is what I am using as inspiration for this card. Instead of stitching the dies, I used crystals to bedazzle them. I also wanted some height to each Ho, and instead of using foam dots or tape, I used a few layers of white cardstock to get that effect.

  • I made a top-folding 5" x 7" card using white cardstock.
  • I adhered a piece of red mirror cardstock to the front of the card base.
  • I cut a piece of striped Christmas paper 3.5" x 7" and 2 strips of gold mirror cardstock, 1/2" x 7".
  • I adhered a strip to each side of the paper, adhered this to a piece of fun foam, and then to the card front.

  • Using red, green, and blue textured cardstock, I die-cut the solid "Ho dies" in each color; using off-white textured cardstock, I die-cut the "stitched" Ho die 3 times; using white cardstock scraps, I die-cut the "stitched" Ho die 9 times, 3 for each color; and, using gold and red mirror cardstock, I die-cut the small star and the ornament topper.
The reason for the white pieces is to give height to each Ho without using foam tape.

  • I adhered 3 of the white stitched Ho pieces on top of each of the solid Ho pieces.
  • I adhered an off-white stitched Ho piece to the top of each of the white stacks.
  • Then I adhered each of the Ho pieces to the card front.

To finish off the card -
  • First, I bedazzled the card by adhering a small crystal to each of the holes where the stitching would normally go.
  • Then I added 3 of the small star die that I die-cut using red mirror cardstock.
  • Lastly, I added a sentiment on the inside of the card.

I hope you have enjoyed these Christmas ideas.  I need to use stencils in my art work more often.  Do you have a favorite?  Don't forget to visit the other Crafty Elves and see what they made.  All of our social media links are below.

  1. Michael, this gorgeous Christmas card reminds me that now would be a good time to make a few Christmas cards to get the stash going. I can't believe April is almost over...or 4 months of this year is almost gone. Christmas will be here before we know it. Thanks for the inspiration to get moving on my Christmas cards. A few each week will soon be the 100 I need by December. Enjoy your day.
