Crafty Elves Countdown to Christmas | March 2025 Edition | Altenew Stencil 4 Ways

Hello everyone, and welcome to the March 2025 Edition of the Crafty Elves Countdown to Christmas with Deb and Lisa.  If you are new here, on the 25th of each month, we post one or more holiday cards.  This way, come November, we don't have to stress over making cards to send to people.  We hope to inspire you, and we hope you will join us.

This month, I made 2 cards and 2 tags using the Festive Greenery Builder Stencil Set from Altenew, some ink pads from Gina K Designs, and holiday sentiments.  Easy peasy.

This Festive Greenery Builder Stencil Set is so easy to use.  It has 3 layers, each clearly numbered.  Since I don't have any ink pads from Altenew, I used 3 colors from Gina K Designs: Red Velvet for the first layer, the berries; Lucky Clover for the 2nd layer, the leaves; and Christmas Pine for the 3rd layer, the stems.

To make each of the stenciled panels for the cards and tags, cut 3 pieces of white cardstock, 6" x 6", and then follow this procedure on each piece.

  • secure one of the pieces of white cardstock to your craft mat with washi tape;
  • secure the first stencil on top of the white cardstock with washi tape;
  • blend the Red Velvet ink using a blending brush and remove the stencil;
  • adhere the 2nd stencil layer, blend Lucky Clover and remove the stencil;
  • lastly, adhere the 3rd stencil layer and blend Christmas Pine.
Remember to clean your stencils after each use with a baby wipe.

Card No. 1

  • I made a 5.75" square top-folding card using red cardstock.
  • I trimmed one of the stenciled panels to 5.5" square, adhered a piece of red fun foam to the back, and then to the card front.
  • I die-cut Feliz Natal, which is Merry Christmas in Portuguese, using red glittered fun foam and a piece of dark green cardstock.  Then I adhered the green piece to the card front and the red glittered piece on top, offset just a tad from the green.
  • I adhered 3 large red crystals from my stash.
  • Lastly, I cut a piece of white cardstock, 5.5" x 5.5", and adhered it to the inside for my message.
Card No. 2

  • I made a top-folding A2 card using red cardstock.
  • I die-cut one of the stenciled panels with a 4" x 5.25" stitched rectangle die, adhered a piece of red fun foam to the back, and then to the card front.
  • I stamped a Chrismtas sentiment on white cardstock, die-cut it using a circle die, die-cut a piece of red cardstock using the next size up die, and adhered them to the card front.
  • I adhered 5 red crystals to the card front.
  • Lastly, I adhered a piece of white cardstock to the inside for a message.

I used dies from the Slimline Tags die set from Marianne Design to make these tags.
  • I die-cut two of the rectangle pieces from the last stenciled panel and I die-cut 2 tags using the smaller tag die - one red and the other gold.
  • I adhered the white pieces to the back of each stage where a message can be written; I adhered the stenciled design to a piece of fun foam and then to the front of each tag.
  • Lastly, I stamped a sentiment and added one to the front of each tag.
I hope you have enjoyed these Christmas ideas.  I need to use stencils in my art work more often.  Do you have a favorite?  Don't forget to visit the other Crafty Elves and see what they made.  All of our social media links are below.
