Congrats on Tying The Knot Cards | Wedding or Engagement Cards | Technique Junkies

Hello everyone.  I hope y'all are doing well.  I get asked all the time to explain certain English expressions and a few weeks ago the expression "tying the knot" came up in a conversation.  I explained what it meant and I also remembered that I have two stamps from Technique Junkies - Ropes and Love Knots - that would work perfectly with this expression.  Hence these cards.

If you want to recreate these cards:

To start...

  • I made 2 top-folding card bases using black cardstock - one vertical and one horizontal.
  • I die-cut 2 pieces of black cardstock using a 4.25" x 5.5" stitched rectangle die.  I love the stitched borders but, if you don't have this die, you can skip this part and use the front of your card base as your main base.
  • I die-cut 2 pieces of gray cardstock using a 4" x 5.25" stitched rectangle die.  If you do not own these dies, just cut 2 pieces of gray cardstock to 4" x 5.25".
  • I cut 2 pieces of black fun foam 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" (just shy of 4" x 5.25").  Optional: If you don't have fun foam, you can use foam tape or just omit these pieces.
  • I die-cut 2 pieces of white cardstock using a 4" x 5.25" stitched rectangle die for the inside of the card.
**Note:  If you do not own the stitched rectangle dies I mentioned above, just cut the cardstock pieces to the same sizes.  The only difference is that you will not have the pretty stitched borders.  But the cards will still look awesome!!

To make your card bases:
  • Adhere the 4.25" x 5.5" black cardstock pieces to the front of each card if you plan to use them.
  • Adhere the black fun foam to the back of each gray piece and then adhere them to the card front.  If you do not have fun foam you can use foam tape or just glue the gray pieces to the center of the card front.

To finish off the cards:
  • I stamped Love Knots and Ropes - both from Technique Junkies - on white cardstock using black ink, and die-cut them using a 3.75" x 5" stitched rectangle die.
  • I made two sentiments on the computer and printed them on white cardstock.  Then I die-cut them, and the black backing pieces, using various banner dies in my stash.
  • I colored the ropes using 2 different brown alcohol markers and adhered one to each card front.
  • I adhered the sentiments to the card fronts and added some small hearts.
  • I stamped Life Full of Love on each of the white cardstock pieces I die-cut earlier and adhered them to the inside of each card.
This card uses the Love Knots stamp.

This card uses the Ropes stamp.

Do you love these quirky cards?  This idea could even be used as a wedding invite or engagement announcement.  Just change the sentiment to something like "Guess what!  We're tying the knot."

If you love these stamps, or anything else on the Technique Junkies website, you can save 10% at checkout by using my coupon code - TJ10Michael.   During the first 8 days of each new stamp release, this code will not work on the new release stamps but will work on the rest of the website.  The new release stamps will already be on sale during those 8 days with a 15% discount.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  I'd love it if you left me a comment and let me know what you think of these card ideas.  As always, until next time...
