Hello everyone and welcome to Week 4 of my Equality For All / Pride 2023 Makers Collaboration that I am doing with Misty a/k/a The Jolly Fat.
Another week, another batch of unfair laws and odd news directly affecting the LGBT+ community. It's mindblowing.
First - Pope Francis told Jesuits in Hungary, that sexual abusers (probably Priests) are disgusting "enemies" who deserve to be condemned and punished - but also deserve Christian love because they are also children of God. Tell that to the people the abusers abused. Insane!
Second - This past Tuesday, the Louisiana House advanced its own "Don't Say Gay" bill, which would ban teachers from discussing sexual orientation or gender identity in K-12 public schools. Now, personally, I don't think this topic comes up much in K-3rd grade but, by the time a kid is in Junior or High School, they know if they are gay and probably have gay friends. Imagine not being able to say you are straight. UGH!
And Third - the most disgusting - Florida's House and Senate approved a bill that allows healthcare providers and insurers the right to refuse patients in line with their "conscience". It allows them to turn anyone away if they don't agree with the patient's sexual orientation. Do these elected officials not have gay children, friends, or relatives? And what about the Hippocratic Oath where doctors swear to uphold a number of professional ethical standards? Florida is beyond needing help.
But now on to fun things...like my card!
I started by cutting a piece of white cardstock, 4.25" x 5.5". Then I added thin washi tape across the card front in rainbow colors. I burnished them well, adhered the excess tape to the back of the card, burnished well again, and then die-cut the cardstock using a stitched rectangle die.
Next, I made a top-folding A2 card from white cardstock, cut a piece of white fun foam which I adhered to the back of my washi/rainbow piece, and then to the card front.
I really love the look of white on white with the colors popping.
Lastly, I added 3 of the stickers from the 3D Let Love Shine Sticker Kit from Paper House Productions.
Below is Misty's card. She used stamps from Stamp Anniething and she made a video, which you can watch HERE or over on her YouTube Channel.
I hope you guys love these cards! We're doing our best to keep this going and get the word out that all people should be treated with equal respect. Below are our social media channels if you would like to follow us over there too.
