"Fowl Play" Holiday Card No. 2

Happy Tuesday everyone.  Yeah, it finally rained.  Not much, but a bit.  So, everyone in the states must be enjoying the short week.  Where is everyone going for Thanksgiving?

Today's post is another Christmas card using the Fowl Play stencil designed by Andrea Matus DeMeng for StencilGirl Products. Again, this card is easy peasy!!

Step by Step:

Cut a piece of red cardstock 8.5" x 5.5", score at 4.25" and fold in half. This is your card base.  Cut two pieces of white cardstock 4" x 5.25". Adhere one piece to the inside of the card to be written on.

On the other piece of white cardstock, lay the stencil on one side of the phrase and, with a dauber and black ink (I used Black Soot Distress Ink), daub the bird stencil outline.  Now clean your stencil, flip it over, and do the other side.

Again, trust me on the "clean your stencil" part!!

Die cut the Traditional Ornament (98917)by Memory Box from red cardstock, and the Snowflake Ornament (98231)by Memory Box from gold cardstock.  Adhere the gold snowflake to the ornament front. Adhere the ornament to the card front.  Glue 3 crystals to the ornament front. Stamp a phrase on the bottom.

Adhere the white cardstock to the card front.

I then went over the birds with a Clear Wink of Stella Brush Marker to give it a big of shimmer.

  1. Really like your card using the Fowl Play stencil. Very elegant with the single ornament.

  2. Hi Michael:
I actually have those dies from Memory Box. Several years ago I took a stencil class using the paste and bought a number of stencils. Since I really didn't enjoy using the paste the stencils have been lying dormant in a box for years. I never thought of using them with daubers until I came to your blog. Justin is the one that told me what a fab blog you have. Now that I've seen your card, which by the way is lovely, I'll dig out those stencils and give it a go. Thanks for the inspiration and have a wonderful day tomorrow.

    1. Grace...just so you understand...I did not use daubers with the dies. I used daubers with the bird stencil. You can use daubers with dies but the birds are from StencilGirl and the ornament die is from Memory Box. But, either way, go pull that stuff out of box and start using them!!! LOL. Glad I inspired you to try it. And stop listening to Justin. hehe
