Dia Mundial do Cafe | World Coffee Day | Cards With Lunic Art Design Papers
I woke up today seeing on the news that today is "Dia Mundial Café" (World Coffee Day) here in Brasil. This confused me since, for me, International Coffee Day is celebrated on October 1st. After doing some research, it seems there are a boatload of holidays celebrating coffee from many different countries.
Per the Environmental Education Portal of the São Paulo Governor's Office, we celebrate "World Coffee Day", established in 2015 by the International Coffee Organization (ICO) to celebrate the beverage, its producers, and to highlight the importance of coffee in the global economy. You can read more about the holiday, HERE, but the page is in Portuguese.
I decided to help celebrate by making some quick coffee cards to send to people since April is National Card and Letter Writing Month, using papers from the Coffee Junk Journal Kit from Lunic Art Design on Etsy. Although this kit is used to make junk journals, the individual papers can be printed in different sizes to use to make cards.
Card No. 1
- I made a top-folding A2 card base using Kraft cardstock and distressed the edges using Coffee Archival Ink.
- Then I printed one of the papers from the Coffee Junk Journal Kit - 4 of the same image on a sheet of white cardstock. For the first image, I die-cut it using a 4" x 5.25" stitched rectangle die; for the 2nd image, I fussy-cut the entire coffee flower/bean image; and for the 3rd image, I fussy-cut just the flower. I also distressed the edges using Coffee Archival Ink and a blending brush.
- I adhered a piece of brown fun foam to the back of the entire image and then to the card front.
- Next, I added pieces of brown fun foam to the back of the full fussy-cut image and adhered it to the card. You could also use foam dots or tape.
- Then I added brown fun foam to the back of the flower and added that to the card front.
- Lastly, I added a hello sentiment to the card front, and I die-cut a piece of white cardstock using a 4" x 5.25" stitched rectangle die and adhered it to the inside for a message.
Card No. 2
- I made a top-folding A2 card base using Kraft cardstock and distressed the edges using Coffee Archival Ink.
- I die-cut the last image using a 4" x 5.25" stitched rectangle die, distressed the edges with Coffee Archival Ink, adhered a piece of fun foam to the back, and then adhered it to the card front.
- Lastly, I added a sentiment to the front and a piece of white cardstock to the inside for a message.
I hope you have enjoyed these two quick card ideas for the coffee-lover in your life. If you want to see more of my work, please feel free to stop by my other social media pages:
Until next time...hugs from Brasil.
