Crafty Elves Countdown to Christmas -May 2023 Edition | Snowflake Card

Hello everyone and welcome to the May 2023 Crafty Elves Countdown to Christmas collaboration that I do with some other Crafty Elves - Elf Debra of Meticulosity, Elf Lisa of Life of a BZScrapper, and Elf Misty of The Jolly Fat Elf and, this month, we have a Guest Crafty Elf - Elf AJ of Art Cards with AJ.

I cannot even begin to tell you how busy my life has been the past 2 weeks and going into next week.  Between preparing for and giving classes and a lot of folio orders...not complaining.  Feels good to be creating stuff but, man, I need a nap.

I have a super quick holiday card idea.  And, in my opinion, a very beautiful that can be used with a Christmas, Hanukkah, or just a "Happy Holidays" sentiment.    I recently received this Snowflake Die (Momenta) from my friend Sue in the States and wanted to put it to use.

There really isn't much to making this card.

  • I made a top-folding A2 card using white cardstock.
  • I attached a piece of patterned paper that had snowflakes on it.  It's from my stash, a very old paper pad from Memory Box, if my memory serves me correctly, which is doesn't do much of lately.
    But, I digress.
  • Next, I cut a piece of white glitter paper from American Crafts and die cut the snowflake die.
  • I adhered it to my card front and, lastly, added some crystals to some of the snowflakes.

I decided not to add a sentiment to the front and to keep my sentiment for the inside.  Again, this is perfect for Christmas, Hanukkah, or a simple holiday card.

Please remember to check out what the other Crafty Elves have made for this month.  You can find Debra's card HERE, Lisa's card HERE, Misty's card HERE, and AJ's card HERE. I'd also love to know what you think of this card.  Leave me a comment below.  Until next time...

Hugs from Brasil.

Equality For All Makers Collaboration | Love Wins | Pride 2023 | Shine

Hello everyone and welcome to Week 4 of my Equality For All / Pride 2023 Makers Collaboration that I am doing with Misty a/k/a The Jolly Fat.

Another week, another batch of unfair laws and odd news directly affecting the LGBT+ community.  It's mindblowing.

First - Pope Francis told Jesuits in Hungary, that sexual abusers (probably Priests) are disgusting "enemies" who deserve to be condemned and punished - but also deserve Christian love because they are also children of God.  Tell that to the people the abusers abused.  Insane!

Second - This past Tuesday, the Louisiana House advanced its own "Don't Say Gay" bill, which would ban teachers from discussing sexual orientation or gender identity in K-12 public schools.  Now, personally, I don't think this topic comes up much in K-3rd grade but, by the time a kid is in Junior or High School, they know if they are gay and probably have gay friends.  Imagine not being able to say you are straight.  UGH!

And Third - the most disgusting - Florida's House and Senate approved a bill that allows healthcare providers and insurers the right to refuse patients in line with their "conscience".  It allows them to turn anyone away if they don't agree with the patient's sexual orientation.  Do these elected officials not have gay children, friends, or relatives?  And what about the Hippocratic Oath where doctors swear to uphold a number of professional ethical standards?  Florida is beyond needing help.

But now on to fun things...like my card!

I started by cutting a piece of white cardstock, 4.25" x 5.5".  Then I added thin washi tape across the card front in rainbow colors.  I burnished them well, adhered the excess tape to the back of the card, burnished well again, and then die-cut the cardstock using a stitched rectangle die.

Next, I made a top-folding A2 card from white cardstock, cut a piece of white fun foam which I adhered to the back of my washi/rainbow piece, and then to the card front.

I really love the look of white on white with the colors popping.

Lastly, I added 3 of the stickers from the 3D Let Love Shine Sticker Kit from Paper House Productions.

Below is Misty's card.  She used stamps from Stamp Anniething and she made a video, which you can watch HERE or over on her YouTube Channel.

I hope you guys love these cards!  We're doing our best to keep this going and get the word out that all people should be treated with equal respect.  Below are our social media channels if you would like to follow us over there too.
