Field Study Mini-Album with Your Book of Memories and Paper House Productions

Hello everyone and TGIF!!  I wanted to share with you guys a mini-album that I recently finished.  Other than card-making, making mini-albums and photo folios is my other big passion.

I used the "Beginners Mini Album V.2" tutorial from Your Book of Memories along with the Field Study Paper Pad from Paper House Productions.

Below are photos of the book and, at the end of this post you will find a link to the walk-thru video on my YouTube channel.  The video also has a code for 20% off Paper House products.

Click below to be taken to the video.  There is a code for 20% discount on Paper House Productions products there too.

I had so much fun using this album tutorial that I made 2 more books - a baby boy book and a baby girl book.  Those vids will come soon.

I'd love to know what you think.  Do you make albums?  Folios?  Let me know!!  As always, thanks for stopping by my blog.  Until next time...

Hugs from Brasil.

The Crafty Elves' Countdown to Christmas - May 2021 Edition

Hello everyone and welcome to the May 2021 edition of The Crafty Elves' Countdown to Christmas.  If this is your first time here, there are 3 Crafty Elves - myself, Debra of Meticulosity and Lisa of Life of a BZscrapper. Each month the 3 elves make 4 cards for the holidays and we share on the 25th of each month.  And, this month, we have a Special Crafty Elf joining us - Crystal O. Minkler who you might also know as Tawny Owl Paperie.

Have you started making any holiday cards yet?  If not, I hope these cards inspire you to start.  I actually made 5 cards this month because we 2 of the designs I had 2 ideas.

Card No. 1

I actually started this card last month during the 10-day coloring challenge from The Daily Marker but never finished it.  Until this month.  I have had this "Pointed Oval/Circle" stamp set from Anthony's Paper Craft for over 2 years and never really knew what to do with them.  Then I just started stamping them and this card happened.

  • I started by cutting a piece of white cardstock using a stitched rectangle die that measures 4" x 5.25".
  • Then I stamped the Pointed Circle stamp all around the cardstock.
  • Then I colored in the Pointed Circles using 3 BIC Intensity Ultra Fine Tip markers - Rambunctious Red, Key Lime, and Blue Skies Blue.  Because of the design of the circles, you have so many options using just 3 colors.
  • I adhered this to a piece of red cardstock, which I then adhered to my card front.
  • I made my own sentiment, printed it out and adhered it to the card front and then, lastly, added a crystal inside the center of each circle.

 Card Nos. 2 and 3

These cards use the Vintage Botanical Holly stamp from Technique Junkies. I bought it on my last trip to NY a few years ago and it's never been inked up.  I also decided to do 2 cards, each card a bit different.

  • I started by making two top folding A2 cards from white cardstock.  Then I used a stitched rectangle die and cut a piece of green and a piece of red cardstock, which I then adhered to the card fronts.
  • I cut two pieces of white cardstock using the next stitched rectangle die down.  Then I stamped the image of the holly on to the cards.  On one I stamped just the full image and on the other I stamped the holly randomly around the white cardstock.
  • The single holly image I layered on a piece of the green cardstock.  Then I cut a piece of red fun foam for under the image.  Then I adhered it to the card front.
  • The randomly stamped holly image piece I layered on a piece of red cardstock, which I then adhered to the card front.
  • Using Parker Lower Alphabet set from Memory Box (retired), I cut the word "merry" out of the red cardstock.  Then I adhered the word to each of the card fronts.
  • Lastly, I used green stickles on the leaves.
  • On the inside of each card I stamped a sentiment from the Gifts of Christmas Set of 5 stamp set also from Technique Junkies.

Card Nos. 4 and 5

For these cards I used a snowflake die cut to make 2 cards using the positive and negative of the snowflakes.  Great way to get two cards made at the same time.  Also, using snowflake images or dies with a sentiment that can be for any religion, you get a "holiday" card for either Christmas, Hanukkah, or even Kwanzaa.

Although I used the Let It Snow Confetti Cuts from Reverse Confetti, which is long retired, they have two stamp/die sets that would be perfect too - the Snowflakes stamp set works with the Snowflakes Confetti Cuts and the Snowflake Magic stamp set works with the Snowflake Magic Confetti Cuts.   Just sayin....LOL

  • I made two top folding A2 card bases using white cardstock.
  • On one card front I adhered a piece of decorative snowy type paper that I had made a long time ago, scanned, and printed. The other I left it alone.
  • I used a stitched rectangle die to cut a piece of white cardstock and a piece of the snowy blue paper.
  • I placed the 3 snowflake dies on the white cardstock and ran it thru my machine.  Then I stamped the sentiment "every day is magical", which is from the Magical Days stamp set from Unity.
  • The 3 snowflakes that cut out I adhered to the snowy blue piece of paper and then I stamped the sentiment under them.
  • I adhered the white cardstock to the snowy blue card front.
  • I adhered the snowy blue cardstock to a piece of white fun foam and then to the card front.
  • Lastly, one both card fronts, I adhered crystals in the center of each snowflake and then a few additional crystals to the card fronts.

And those are my 4 Christmas/Holiday card ideas for May!  Do you have a fav?  I love them all, as usual, and can't really pick my fav.

Happy Father's Day x 3 with the Anthony's Paper Craft Group Design Team Project

Hello everyone!  This month the Anthony's Paper Craft Group Design Team Project is about Father's Day. Having recently lost my own dad, I know that some people might no longer have their dad around, or they might not have a relationship with their dad, or, maybe they don't have a dad.  Each of us has a different situation.

I was having a hard time thinking of a card to make and was not focusing.  But I think my dad sent me a message.
I still had my nautical sets sitting on my desk from the two cards I made the other day, which you can see {HERE}, and my dad was in the Navy in his youth and he loved to fish when I was a kid.  So I decided to go with a "nautical-themed" Father's Day card in his honor.  The creativity was flowing and I ended up making 3 cards.  Even if you don't have a "dad" to give a card to, maybe this card will inspire you to make a birthday card for that guy in your life that you look to as a dad, or a neighbor, or even an Uncle.

These cards were inspired by a card I had seen on Pinterest, which had a ship's wheel in the center with some curved text above and below the wheel.  I had NO idea how to do this "curved text" thing so I hit YouTube where I found THIS video showing how to do it using Canva.

For my first card...

I started with a top-folding A2 card to which I adhered a piece of navy blue textured cardstock.  I also printed my "curved text" sentiment onto a piece of white cardstock in the size I wanted.

I stamped the ship's wheel from Nautical 1 in the center of the "curved text" and then I cut it out using a stitched circle die.

And I used a stitched rectangle die to cut a piece of decorative paper that I found in the Artist paper pad from Paper House Productions.  I also die-cut a piece of the navy cardstock using the next circle die up.

Then I put it all together.  Decorative paper adhered to the card front.  Then the navy blue circle and, finally, the circle with the image and sentiment.  Lastly, I added some dots using a Blue Pearl Pen and a Silver Chrome Pearl Pen, both by Viva Decor.  I have these in my stash but you can also use Nuvo drops.

For my 2nd card...

I used a top-folding A2 card with a piece of navy blue textured cardstock adhered to the front.

Then I cut a piece of white cardstock using a stitched rectangle die.  I sprayed some Vibrant Turquoise, Pure Sunshine, and Fresh Lime Dylusions Ink Sprays (Ranger) on the cardstock, removed the excess with a paper towel and they heat dried.  Then I placed the Swirly Floral stencil (StencilGirl) on the cardstock, sprayed it with water, and then removed the excess with a paper towel.  I liked this stencil because it gave the look of wind blowing.  Then I heat set it.

I wrapped some navy blue twine around the lower part and secured it in the back.  Then I adhered this to a piece of fun foam and then to the card front.  Then I printed out my "curved text" again onto white cardstock, stamped the wheel in the center and cut out using the same stitched circle die, along with a piece of the blue cardstock.  I adhered them together and then adhered over the twine with foam tape.  Lastly, I colored in the wheel.

For my 3rd card...

Again...top folding A2 card base with a piece of navy blue textured cardstock on the front.  When I played with the Dylusions inks earlier, I made 2 pieces.  So I adhered the 2nd one I made to the card front.

Then I stamped the fisherman at the ship's wheel from Nautical 2 and added my own sentiment under it.  I adhered this to the card front and only colored in the ship's wheel.  Lastly, I added some blue enamel dots to the card front.

On the inside, I printed out Happy Father's Day onto a piece of white cardstock that I adhered on the inside and stamped the anchor from Nautical 1 next to it.

I hope you enjoyed these cards and that they inspire you to make a card for that special Dad or guy in your life.  I think Dad would have loved to have received one of these.  Do you have a fav?  Let me know, leave a comment below!

"Seas The Day" and "Sea the Light" with Anthony's Paper Craft

Hello everyone and welcome to my May 2021 Design Team project for Anthony's Paper Craft.  This month's theme is "cards for guys" - nautical themed cards, masculine cards, birthday cards, and, the group project on the 15th is all about Father's Day.

The idea I had in my head was to use a map with blue cardstock.  Since I was going to use two sheets of paper and the die I used gives a negative and positive, I made 2 cards at the same time. This way everything I cut got used.

Let's start by making our card bases.  I made two top-folding A2 cards from white cardstock.  Then I adhered kraft cardstock to the front of each one.

I wanted a map and the color blue for the cards.  So I pulled out a blue sheet from the Brights Cardstock Stack and one of the map pages from The Maps, Text, & Ledgers Stack.  Because this is paper, I adhered it to a piece of kraft cardstock before cutting.  Then I cut each of them using the Sunburst Cover Panel Confetti Cuts from Reverse Confetti.

Then I adhered one panel to one card front.

Using small pieces of foam tape, I adhered each of the pieces onto the card front.  I used the blue pieces on the map card front and the map on the blue.  It could be a bit time-consuming so, if you want, feel free to just glue the pieces in.  But I love the 3D-raised look.

Next, I pulled out my Misti Stamping Tool and stamped images from both Nautical 1 and Nautical 2 onto a piece of white cardstock.  The images from these two sets work really well together.

Then I placed them in my Scan N Cut by Brother and had the machine cut them out with a small border.

Then I colored them in using a variety of markers in my stash.  I adhered the circle piece to the center and then the other images where I wanted them.  I also stamped two of the sentiments from the sets, cut them out with banner dies, and adhered them to the card fronts too.

The last thing I did was to cut some of the Flying Gulls from Memory Box (Retired) using white cardstock and adhere them to the card front.

And...done!  I am not really comfortable making masculine cards, don't really know why, but I love how these turned out.  I'd love to know what you think.  Have a favorite?  Let me know...leave a comment below.  I'll be back soon with some more fun things.

Until next time...hugs from Brasil!
