He Made It / She Made It Collab | Valentine's Day Cards | KCS Designs by Kim DT Projects

Hello everyone!  Debra and I were talking the other day, and we realized it's been forever since we did one of our "He Made It / She Made It" collaborations.

For today's collab, we both made Valentine's Day cards using printables from KCS Designs by Kim, as we are both on Kim's Design Team.  The requirements are that we each have to make a card using any of Kim's printables, but we both have to incorporate the Word Snippets: Valentine's Day Collection on our cards.

Both of my cards use Whimsical Hearts IV and Word Snippets - Valentine's Day.  I love the colors and designs in this heart set.  But, there are 3 sets of Whimsical Hearts for you to pick from - Whimsical Hearts 1Whimsical Hearts 2, or Whimsical Hearts 3.

If you like anything I used, KCS Designs by Kim is having a Hump Day sale in her Etsy store, and everything is 40% off!

Card Idea No. 1

This card has a 3-layered heart in the center as its focal point with one of the sentiments from the Valentine's Day Word Snippets set.

  • First, I made a top-folding A2 card using red cardstock.
  • Next, using Pages, the graphics program on my Mac, I made a 4.25" x 5.5" template and imported several images from Whimsical Hearts IV, sizing them as needed to design my card front.  Then I printed 4 of the card fronts at 100% - two on each sheet of white cardstock.
  • Using a 4" x 5.25" stitched rectangle die, I die-cut one of the images, adhered a piece of fun foam to the back, and adhered it to the card front.  Then I fussy cut the center heart from the other 3 images.
  • Using the fussy-cut hearts from the center of the image, I left one alone and I fussy-cut the layers from the other two hearts.  I glued the large heart to the card front.  Then, using foam dots, I adhered the middle heart to the large heart, and then the smallest to the middle heart - making a 3-layered heart.
  • Then I fussy-cut one of the sentiments from the Word Snippets: Valentine's Day set, layered it on red cardstock, and then added it to the heart.

Card No. 2

This card is basically the same as Card No. 1, but I kick it up a notch by fussy-cutting all the hearts and raising them up using foam squares.

  • First, I printed the same card fronts as the first card - 2 sheets with 2 of the card fronts printed on each sheet.
  • I used the 4" x 5.25" stitched rectangle die to die-cut one of the card fronts, adhered a piece of fun foam to the back, and then to my card front.
  • Then I die-cut another one of the card fronts using the same die, and fussy-cut the center heart from the 3 card fronts I printed.
  • I fussy-cut the hearts around the edge of the card front from the piece missing the center heart, distressed the edges, and adhered them to the card front using foam dots.
  • Lastly, I added a sentiment to the center heart from the Word Snippets Valentine's set.

It's time to see the amazing card that Debra made.

Debra went vintage and used the Layered Remnants Journal Papers with the Word Snippets: Valentine's Day.  She explains how she made her card on her blog.  Just click HERE to see her post.

Everything Debra and I used can be found in the
KCS Designs by Kim Etsy store.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  Until next time...

Hugs from Brasil.
