Day 5 of The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge - Flip-Flops Card

Happy Tuesday everyone!  I know...I missed Monday.  I was planning on doing a blog post but I got up later than I wanted to and ....

had to make a visit to the vet.  Her to get her nails trimmed and him to get his shots!! She hates the vet and he seemed to be having a great time.  LOL.  He is also getting along great with all the other dogs and I am very happy that they took to him.  AND...he has stopped his "happy peeing".  That was not fun.  

Today I am showing a really easy card I made for Day 5 of The Daily Marker's 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  Is anyone else following along with Kathy or joining in?  I would love to know.  I used an image from Northwoods Rubber Stamps of flip-flops that I have wanted to color for a long time and I used a phrase from a Unity set that I felt went perfect with it.  Since Spring has sprung here and it's getting very hot....and I live in flip-flops most days, I loved making this card.

I started by stamping the flip-flops and the phrase from Unity onto a piece of white cardstock, 3.5" x 4.75" with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Then I pulled out some Sharpie and Bic fine tipped markers and colored in the flip-flops.  I also used Copic E000 Pale Fruit Pink for the "sand" around the flip-flops.

Then I pulled out the Artist Paper Pix 6" x 6" pad from Paper House and found this sheet of paper I liked because it looked like bubbles or water to me.   I cut a piece of this paper, 4.25" x 5.5" and adhered it to the card front.

And lastly, I adhered the piece with the flipflops on it onto a piece of dark blue cardstock, 5" x 3.75", which I then adhered to the card front.  I printed "including flip-flops all summer long" on to a piece of white cardstock, which I adhered to the inside of the card.

That's it....DONE!  The coloring took the longest but no longer than 15 minutes.  The rest is about 5 minutes.  Really.  I hope you enjoyed this card and post.

Greenmarket, Nursery and another {Mojo} Monday Card

Happy Sunday everyone!!  I am more than a bit late in doing today's post but we got up early and went to the greenmarket in Artur Nogeira, the town next to us.  We get greenmarkets every weekend here and, although they are pretty much the same as in the states, because we live in rural, agricultural area, we tend to get more than just your typical fruits and veggies.  

Today, for example, I found someone selling - honeycomb.  Pure delicious honey...still in the comb...YUM!

And another stand selling fresh bacon.  Well, not fresh....but cured by them, on the farm, from pigs that they raised themselves.  Sorry....but I love bacon.  And this fresh bacon is some of the best!!

After that it was off to Holambra, the town on the other side of us, to get some plants and garden stuff.  I am here several times a month but today was the first time that I saw Christmas Cactus and Geranium in bloom but with different flowers than I am used to from the states.  And the Christmas Cactus is blooming here because it is spring here and Christmas is just around the corner.

Then I saw a beautiful flower, that I thought was an orchid, but my friend Ken Oliver advised me over Instagram that this is actually Nepenthes distillatoria, which is commonly called the pitcher plant.  It's carnivorous and not really an orchid but its habitat and culture are very similar.  Thanks Ken!!

Now for today's card!!  

I made this one too as a tall and skinny card for the {Mojo} Monday 417 Challenge.  I cannot believe how many people entered this challenge.  This card is 3.5" wide by 6" tall. I started with a piece of white cardstock 3.5" x 12", scored at 6" and folded.  This is a top folding card.  Then I used 3 sheets from the Lucky Charm 6" x 6" pad by American Crafts with some black cardstock for the card front.  I stamped the lady from the Poised & Pretty (SB-987A) set by Susan K. Weckesser for Unity Stamps directly onto the lightest of the papers with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Since the paper already had a color to it, and I did not want her skin tone to be too dark, I colored her skin with Copic R00 (Pinkish White). Then I stamped the image again onto another piece of paper from the pack with small flowers on it.  Cut the two pieces of the dress out and paper pieced it onto the image.  

Then I stamped the phrase from the "That's What She Said Set" (SS012) from Technique Junkies directly onto the same paper I stamped the lady. Then I mounted it on black cardstock and used pop dots to raise it above the ribbon.  

Added a few flat backed pearls to the upper right of the card and DONE!!

Mojo Monday 417 Challenge - Halloween Cards

Happy Saturday everyone!  The creative mojo is still coming!  Today I have two more Halloween cards for you.  One of the problems with living in Brasil is not being able to get new stuff as soon as it comes out.  Or waiting weeks (somethings months) for packages to arrive and then having customs sock me with a huge customs fee.  At times I use older stamps or papers.  Like for these two cards.  I opened the box labeled Halloween and found some goodies I had yet to use. 

The first card is a Halloween "spider web" card and is for the Mojo Monday 417 Challenge. I saw that my friend Justin had made THIS card for the challenge and wanted to join in with him.  I like tall and skinny cards.  

I started with a white cardstock base, 5.5" x 7", scored at 3.5".  This card is 5.5" tall and 3.5" wide. Then cut a piece of black cardstock, 3.5" x 5.5" and adhered it to the card front. Then I used a sheet of "Frightful Words" from the Frightful line by My Mind's Eye and cut - from the spider web side - a piece 3.25" x 5.25".  Cut another piece of black cardstock 2.5" x 4.75".  Cut a piece of white cardstock, 2.25" x 4.5", stamped the spider web in black ink on the cardstock leaving a bit at the bottom for the spider.  Then stamped the spider in black ink under the web.  Adhered this piece to the black cardstock.  Then adhered the black cardstock to the piece of Frightful Words.  Wrapped a piece of spider web ribbon around all 3 layers and adhered it to back.  Then adhered this whole piece to the card front.  Stamped the phrase, cut it out, adhered some pop dots to the back and adhered to the card front.  Then I stamped the smaller spider on the top right side and applied some glossy accents to the large spider to make him (or her) pop!  

Done!!

For the other card, which I made while making the cards for The Paper Players Challenge, I used the same sketch but instead of using any stamps, I used this cute little Frankenstein sticker that I had in my stash.  I know..I know...I used a stamp the other day of Frankenstein but this sticker was just too cute not to make into a card.  I used the same paper and the same ribbon on both cards today.  I just adhered the sticker of Frankenstein and the two bats to the card front.

30 Day Coloring Challenge Day 2

Good day everyone.  Hope your Thursday went well.  Considering that I thought it was Wednesday, mine well very well.  I gained a day.  LOL.  But today is the best day of the week - FRIDAY - and I have a card for Day 2 of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge over at The Daily Marker.  I used the same sketch as yesterday's card and plan on entering this one in The Paper Players challenge too.  

I won't bother you with the step by step since it's basically the same as yesterday.  The only big change is that I used the largest and second largest dies from a set of Stitched Jumbo Fishtail dies instead of the scalloped piece in the center.  And I used Stitched Rectangles for the image and the piece of black cardstock right behind the image.

30 Day Coloring Challenge and The Paper Players Challenge No. 264

Good day everyone!!  Yesterday I shocked myself by making 4 cards!!  Crazy.  The creative mojo was certainly flowing and I think someone was sending mojo vibes my way. LOL.  I love it when I make something and can use it in more than one way.  Today's card is being used for The Daily Marker's 30 Day Coloring Challenge and for The Paper Players Challenge No. 264.  

The Daily Marker, a blog run by Kathy Racoosin, is hosting her 3rd - 30 Day Coloring Challenge. I met Kathy during my trip to NYC this past summer when she stopped into The Ink Pad.  She is a lovely person and she loves to color as much as I do and she finds time each day to do some.  Me?  I don't find as much time as she does - but I want to.  The challenge is to color something every day for 30 days.  I am going to do my best to achieve this goal!!  I have some ideas for projects that might take a few days to finish but I will post my progress on those pieces everyday. 

My friend Justin posted this card to his blog that he made for the Paper Players Challenge No. 264.   I thought I could do something with that sketch so that I can play along too - and, since Halloween is just around the corner, this is what I came up with. 

Step by Step:

I started with an A2 card base of white cardstock, 5.5" x 8.5", scored at 4.25".  This is a side folding card.  Cut a piece of the Dots paper, 4.25"x 5.5", and adhered to card front. Cut a piece of black cardstock, 4" x 3.5", and used a scallop punch on the bottom.  Cut a piece of the script paper, 3 3/8" x 3 3/4", adhered to black cardstock and then adhered this to the card front.  Next, I cut a piece of the zig zag side of the Chandelier paper, 1" x 4.25", and adhered it to a piece of black cardstock, 1 1/8" x 4.25".  Threaded black and white baker's twine through an orange button and adhered this to the right side of the strip.

Next I stamped the image on white cardstock with Memento Black Tuxedo ink and colored him in with Copics (list of colors down below).  Glued this to the strip, applied some pop dots to the back of the image and the strip and adhered this to the card front.

Done!!
