Freshly Made Sketches Challenge 225 with Technique Junkies

Hello everyone.  Hope everyone has fun plans for the weekend.  We have a class next weekend in the store so I will be sticking around here getting things ready and cleaning up.  Today's card is for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge No. 225.  I've had this image sitting around begging to be used and today was it's day!    Here is the sketch that was the inspiration for this card -

I started with a 5" x 7" white cardstock base, side folding.  Because this card is meant to be included with a wedding gift, or check, I went with a larger card size.  To the front I adhered a piece of metallic silver cardstock.  Then I checked through my stash of papers and found this beautiful paper called Diamond from SEI's White Elegance Collection and I cut a piece 3" x 6.5".  I adhered this to a piece of black cardstock, giving only a slight border, and adhered this to the card front on the right side.

Then I grabbed the Happily Ever After image by Technique Junkies and my Misti stamping tool.  Because this is a solid image and I knew I would have to stamp it a few times, the Misti comes in perfect.  (You could also use a stamp positioner).  So I placed a piece of white cardstock in the Misti, the image on the other side, inked this baby up with Onyx Black Versafine ink and stamped it several times.

When it was fully dry, I trimmed the image to 2.5" x 3.5", adhered a piece of white fun foam under the image, then a piece of black cardstock, again leaving a slight border.  Then I adhered the whole thing to the card front.  It was missing something.....so I found a crystal heart that I glued above the couple and found a light pink/white flower on a heart pin, that I slipped onto the side.

Here is a close up of the image with the flower -

Done!  I think this card is a very clean, simple, classy and elegant card for a wedding!  I hope you do too.   I hope you can make some time to make a card for the Freshly Made Sketch challenge too!!  Until next time -

Hugs from Brasil -
Michael

SIP Challenge 36 - Perfect Peacock Thank You Card

Good morning everyone.  TGIF!!  I know it's Friday because the paper was laying in the driveway this morning and the dog, for once, did not pee it!! Maybe that means the weekend will be a good one.  Today I am breaking away for the day from my 4" square note cards to show a card I made last night for the Stamp Ink Paper Card Challenge No. 36.  It's one of their Card Maker's Choice challenges and I like them - no rules.

I've been wanting to use this Perfect Peacock stamp since the day I saw it in the Stampin Up catalog - and I finally got my chance.  I started with a top folding A2 white cardstock card base.  I cut a piece of black cardstock - 4.25" x 5.5" - and adhered this to the front of my card base.  Then I cut a piece of cream mixed media paper  - 3.75" x 5" - and heat embossed the peacock with Versamark ink and Black Sparkle embossing powder by Ranger.  I also stamped the "thank you" phrase from the Because I Care by Stampin Up with Onyx Black Versafine.  After that I colored the peacock with my SAI Watercolor Brush Pens. Once fully dry, I adhered it to a piece of gold cardstock - 4" x 5.25" - which I then adhered to the black cardstock.

Done!!  I love how this card came out - very classy and eye catching.  I hope you guys like it as much as I do.  Please remember to leave a comment below for a chance to win, not just this card, but all the cards I am making in February!

Also, please head over to the Stamp Ink Paper Card Challenge and leave some love for everyone that entered a card.  If you want to enter a project of your own, you have until February 28th - Sunday evening by 8:00pm.  Winners will be announced on Monday, February 29th!  Until next time -

You Make My Heart Smile with Stampin Up

Hello everyone!  I loved making today's card.  It's such a simple, easy, and nice card to give to anyone that makes you smile.  It could be someone you love, or the babysitter, or a neighbor.  I think this would be a beautiful and perfect note card for a small gift too.  Hope you do too.

To make this really simple card - start with a white cardstock card base of 4" x 8", scored at 4", and top folding.  To this I adhered a piece of patterned paper, 4" x 4", to the card front.  To this I adhered a piece of metallic blue cardstock, 3 5/8" x 3 5/8".

Next I cut a piece of white cardstock, 3.5" x 3.5", and stamped the smaller flower from the Timeless Love set in the lower right corner with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I stamped the phrase "You Make My Heart Smile" next to the image, also using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Then I colored in the image with some Copics.  Then, to the give the card some depth, I adhered a piece of white fun foam to the back of the white cardstock and then adhered this to the metallic blue cardstock.

Adhered a few pink sequins with glossy accents, and went over the flowers with a Clear Wink of Stella Brush pen to give some glimmer.  Done!!

I hope you enjoyed this easy card to make.  As I said earlier, this is such a kind card to give to someone to make them smile too!  And we all need more smiling going around.

Please leave a comment below if you want to have a chance to win all the cards I am making in February.  And, until next time -

Hugs from Brasil -

A Good Friend Is Like A Warm Cup of Coffee Card

Hello everyone.  I cannot believe how many of you loved the cards the past two days that I made with the die by Frantic Stamper.  Several of you told me you were going to go buy the die just from seeing my cards.  That makes me feel great. I wish I made a commission.  LOL.  There is another die, also by Frantic Stamper, that I am doing something cool with too.  But that will have to wait till next week.  Several people also mentioned that this would be a good video to make and...well....I might just give it a shot.

For today, I have a very simple card to make - start with a card base of Kraft paper, 4" x 8", scored at 4" and top folding. Adhere a piece of dark brown cardstock (darker than the Kraft color) - 3.75" x 3.75" - to the card front.  Next, cut a piece of white card stock and a piece of brown fun foam - 3.5" x 3.5". We'll use the fun foam soon.

I started with the phrase.  I wanted the phrase broken up into two lines but did not want to cut the stamp.  I covered "A good friend is like" with painter's tape, stamped the phrase with Ground Espresso Distress Ink, removed the painters tape and then stamped it on the cardstock.  Then I cleaned my stamp REALLY well.  Then I covered the part that says "a warm Cup of coffee" with painter's tape, and stamped it above the first image.  (I started with the 2nd part of the phrase first because it was longer).

After this I stamped the coffee cup, the steam, and the coffee beans, on the right side of the white cardstock.  I used a Marvy Matchable ink in Brown so that I could use copics with them.  All 3 of these images come from a set by Fiskars called Latte Love.  I then colored in the cup with some Copic markers.  Then I adhered the piece of brown fun foam to the back of the white cardstock and adhered it to the card front.

The final part was to apply some glossy accents on the steam, the beans, and the 3 circles on the cup.  Done!!

Truly, not a difficult card to make.  I hope you liked this quick card.  Remember to leave a comment below for a chance to win all the cards I am making in February!!  Until next time -

Woven Ribbons Note Cards with Frantic Stamper - Part II

Hello everyone.  I hope everyone survived their Monday and that their week has started well.  Yesterday it pretty much rained all day and I had some issues with a card.  Did you ever try to make the simplest of cards and it's just one problem after another?  I had that yesterday.  I did finally get the card done and will post it tomorrow.

But for today we have a very short post!!

So, remember the card I made yesterday (click HERE to the card) and all those little pieces of black paper I had?  Well I figured out what to do with them. After I removed all the small pieces on yesterday's card I had the one big outline piece. So I made an A2 card and adhered a piece of black cardstock to the card front.  Then I adhered this outline piece to the black cardstock and then inserted each of the black pieces that I saved from the first card.

Now, I know you are asking....why use the pieces of black cardstock if the card base is the same cardstock? Well I wanted the card to still have that "puzzle" look and feel to it when you touch it.  It also gave a bit of dimension and texture to the card.

But...it looked boring!

So I went and cut a piece of hot pink glitter fun foam and die cut the "Scripty Hello" die from Lawn Fawn and adhered it to the card front.  Totally changed the card!

It still needed a little something else so I grabbed some pink and gold sequins, adhered a few to the front and now it looks much much better!  Had some issues with glue residue on the black paper but I think I got most of it off! Phew!

Done!  Would love to hear your thoughts on this card.  Remember to leave a comment for a chance to win all the cards I am making in February.  Until next time -

Woven Ribbons Mixed Media Note Cards with Frantic Stamper and Stencil Girl

Happy Monday everyone.  Does anyone actually like Mondays?  Maybe people that don't have to work or go to school enjoy them?  LOL.  Yesterday was a very lazy day for me.  It rained most of the day and other than make a few cards and chill with lots of dogs, I did nothing else!!  I like days like that.

Today's card comes out of a project I did for StencilGirl Products for their blog, StencilGirl Talk.  Back in May, 2014, I made some Easy Peasy Mixed Media Note Cards, which, between you and me, really came out great!!  Yesterday, as I was going through a box, I found a bunch of extra pieces from that and other StencilGirl projects I had done.

Hmmmm.....all these colors...and designs...what to do with them?  Then I remembered that I had two interesting dies from Frantic Stamper and my mind my started to run away with ideas!!  For today's card I used a die called Woven Ribbons Card Panel Die and one of my project scraps.  If you want to make this card, you could use a really cool piece of scrapbook paper with a vivid cool design to it.

I started with an A2 white, top folding card base.  I cut a piece of black cardstock, 4" x 5.25", and applied double sided tape to the back of the cardstock.  {I did this so that it would be easier to adhere to the card front without using messy glue}.

Then I ran it thought my die cut machine, using the metal adapter so that all the pieces would fall out easily.   You will end up with this.

I removed all the inside pieces and put them aside for a future project.  Then I removed the double-sided tape from the back of the full piece -

- and adhered the top and part of the side to the card front.  Because this outline part is so fragile, I want to be able to manipulate it as I go.

Then I repeated the same process with the scrap piece I had from my earlier project - applied double-sided tape to the back and ran it through my die cut machine.  But this time I did NOT remove all the pieces.

Next, working slowly, remove the pieces from the colorful piece and place into the black outline.  I work one by one so that I can manipulate the black piece around each piece.

Keep working until the whole piece has been transferred.

Done!!  Really not as hard as it looks.  I figured out what to do with the pieces I saved from each of the die cuts.  Check back tomorrow to see another card made but with the reverse colors.

And remember to leave a comment to be entered in the contest to win all the cards I am making this month!  Until next time -

Hugs from Brasil -

Bubbles Border Note Card with Lost Coast Designs

Good day all!  I am exhausted and it's only 1 pm here.  Yesterday our friend Mara Domene taught a traditional bookbinding class on how to make a Moleskin notebook.  We had a full class and everyone had a great time. Afterwards was dinner at a new restaurant in town called Kabuum Bar.  Outdoor seating, live music with an amazing musician, Saray Tainan, and the burgers were great. The owner used to have a hamburger restaurant in town and he remembered me as "the American" that used to love his burgers.  At 2 am thunder and lightening woke me up and then it turns out that we turned the clocks ahead last night - so I lost an hour of sleep!!  Grrrrr.....

I started today's very colorful card with a white cardstock base, 4" x 8", scored at 4" and top folding, to which I adhered a piece of black cardstock.  Then I grabbed another one of my favorite stamps called Bubbles Border by Lost Coast Designs. Because the stamp is so long and I wanted to make sure the different sections did not overlap, I used a Stamp-a-ma-jig stamp positioner together with a Dylusions Journal Block.  A stamp postioner is a tool that every stamper should have in their arsenal and I use mine almost daily.  Check below for a video on how it works.

I started with a piece of white cardstock, 3.75" square, inked up my stamp and, using the positioner, stamped the part of the image I wanted on the cardstock.

Then I turned the block and stamp around and stamped the next section of the stamp I wanted under the first section.

This was the piece before I started to color.

I then colored everything (except the circles) using Copic Markers.  For the circles, I used Stickles by Ranger.  You could also use crystals or dimensional paints.  Once the Stickles were dry, I adhered a piece of black fun foam to the back and then adhered this piece to the card front.  Lastly I adhered some stickers (Momenta) on the bottom that says "dream a little dream everyday".

I really love how the yellow pops with the black cardstock behind it.  I hope you enjoyed this post.  Remember to leave a comment below for a chance to win all the cards I make in February!!  Until next time -

"You Are Beautiful" Card with The Scrapbook Diaries

Good morning, afternoon, evening - guess it all depends on where you are in the world.  The fact that people all over the world can communicate with each other, and learn from each other, so easily these days still blows my mind!!  I have spent the day trying to get the store in order because our friend Mara Domene will be here tonight.  She is giving a class in the store tomorrow on how to make a Moleskin notebook.  Trust me, her work is so good you cannot tell that her book is not made by Moleskin.  I am so excited to learn how to make this book!

Today I am sharing another 4" note card using one of my new favorite images. There is a story here -

I love You Tube.

And last year I started to watch videos by Gabrielle Pollacco - an amazing mixed media artist from Canada.  No, I am not kissing butt...she really is amazing and you will feel the same way after you watch her vids.  LOL

Her videos are mesmerizing, she uses the best music, she makes it all look so easy, and I have learned a few things from watching her videos.

Well, during THIS video, Shabby Chic Wall Art, she draws an amazing figure of the back of a woman, in a very chic and sexy dress, which is the focal point of the whole project.

And I fell in love with this image.

As did so many other people!

Because she came ended up coming out with a rubber stamp of this image for her line with The Scrapbook Diaries.

Story over.  Time for the card.  LOL

I started with a piece of white cardstock, 3.5" square.  Using Versamark Ink, Black Sparkle embossing powder (Ranger), and a heat gun - I first stamped and embossed the woman in the Couture dress from Gabis Haute Couture Stamp Set. Then I stamped the words "you are" and "beautiful" from Gabis Word Set.  I suggest you use a stamp positioner for the words.

Next I colored in the dress using R00 (Pinkish White) for the skin, RV11 (Pink) for the top section of the dress, RV34 (Dark Pink) for the bow and flowers in her hair, E33 (Sand) for her hair, and a Wink of Stella Clear Brush Marker for the bottom part of the dress.

The last steps - made my card base of white cardstock, 4" x 8", scored and folded at 4" and top folding.  Then I adhered a piece of patterned paper with silver flowers on it to the card front, then a piece of black cardstock, 3.75" square.  Lastly, I adhered a piece of white fun foam under the white cardstock with my images on it (to give some height) and adhered this to the black cardstock.  I also adhered a crystal in each corner and on the bow.

I hope you enjoyed this card.  I think this is such a classy image and card.

Remember to leave a comment below to be entered in the contest at the end of the month for a chance to win all the cards I make in February.  Until the next time -

Baby It's Cold Outside - Retro Rubber Challenge 32

Hello everyone! What a crazy morning!!  I was in the middle of preparing this blog post when I realized that Bandido had an appointment with the vet.  While at the vet, I received an email from Blogger advising me that this little ole blog of mine had been deleted due to "phishing".  WTH? After several hours of searching on Uncle Google's website, filing my "appeal" with Blogger, hitting Twitter to vent my frustration via tweets....they finally realized they screwed up big time and gave everyone back their blogs.  It is very frustrating to be at the mercy of a website with no way to contact them.  I plan on moving over to Word Press soon!

As for today's card - I made this cute 4" square note card, not just for The Daily Marker's 30 Day Color Challenge, but also to upload to a new card challenge site I found called Retro Rubber Challenge Blog.  It's different than most challenge blogs because you HAVE to use stamps that are older than a year. Since I moved here with 20 years worth of rubber stamps, this is going to be a great challenge blog for me to play with.  I will finally be forced use to those older stamps I bought and never used.  This is my first card for them and with Challenge 32 - Baby It's Cold Outside - you have to make a winter card.

I started with a white cardstock card base, 4" x 8", scored at 4" and top folding. To this I adhered a 4" square piece of designer scrapbook paper that looked like snow to the card front.  Then I took a piece of white cardstock- 3 5/8" x 3 5/8" - and made my sky by blending Broken China, Victorian Velvet, Milled Lavender, and Chipped Sapphire Distress inks.

Next I grabbed a set by Stampin Up called It's Snow Time (from 2004).  Using Memento Ink, I stamped the trees a few times and one of the snowmen, had my Scan N Cut cut them out, and then I colored them in with Copic Markers.  Then, using Versamark ink, I stamped the snowflakes and stars stamp that is also part of this set and embossed them with Bridal Embossing Tinsel by Ranger.  I also used one of the dies from the Stitched Hillside Borders by Lawn Fawn with a scrap piece of white cardstock to make the snow hill, which I then glued under the sky.

Next, I adhered the cardstock with the winter sky to a piece of dark blue cardstock - 3 3/4" x 3 3/4", which I then adhered to the card front.  Next, glued the trees to the card front.  I applied some pop dots to the tree in front to give some dimension.  Then I placed the snowman down temporarily and stamped the snowballs.

Finally, put some pop dots on the back of the snowman and adhered him to the card front.  For the snowballs and under the trees, I used a Brasilian product that makes puffy white paint.  Sort of like a Viva Decor product in the states or Europe.  After this all dried, I stamped the phrase "The chill of winter is warmed by friendship.", which is also part of this set.

Done!!  As always, I hope you enjoyed this card.  If you are tired of all the challenge blogs using new stamps and you want to use or give new life to your older stamps, I urge you to check Retro Rubber out.  If you want to enter a card of your own - and you have until February 26th - just click HERE!

Until next time...Hugs from Brasil -

Bluebird Wreath Anniversary Note Card with Prickley Pear

Good morning all!  Well we made it half way through the week!!  Got more rain yesterday. Expecting more today.  Sigh!  Today I have another cute 4" note card using a stamp from Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps called Bluebird Wreath. I know that it looks like an image that should only be used for Christmas but I think it is much more versatile if you have the right sentiment and paper.

I started with a white card base - 4" x 8", scored at 4", and top folded.  To this I adhered a piece of black cardstock, 4" x 4".  Then I looked through my stash for a piece of patterned paper that had a wedding/silvery shimmer look to it, and adhered a piece - 3.75" x 3.75" to the black cardstock.

Then I grabbed my Stitched Square Stax from MFT and cut a piece of black cardstock with the 3" die and a piece of white cardstock with the 2 5/8" die.   Adhered the black cardstock to the center of the card over the paper.

Next I stamped the image of the Bluebirds, leaving enough room for the phrase underneath.  Then I stamped the phrase "Happy Anniversary" from the Life Stuff Sentiments set from Impression Obsession (a great set of sentiments for your stash). Colored in the birds with some Tombow markers and then adhered it to the black cardstock.  Finally - adhered the crystals around the wreath with glossy accents and - Done!!

I hope you enjoyed this card.  Remember to leave a comment here for a chance to win all the note cards I am making in February!  Until next time -

You've Captured My Heart Note Card

Good morning everyone.  Yesterday started out as a beautiful day and then the rains came.  Sao Paulo city got clobbered with major flooding and here is just rained for hours. But...I got to finally see the new episode of The Walking Dead (my favorite show) and then watched a bit of the Grammy Awards.

And this morning I found out that Bandido was not a good boy last night.  He decided that he wanted to eat a pair of Papa Michael's favorite socks that were hanging to dry.  Now he is in the doghouse.  LOL

Today I have another 4" note card.  It was made with Valentine's Day in mind but it can be used for any day that you just want to let someone know that they "captured your heart".  {insert smiley face here}.

Oh...the set I used called Captured My Heart is on sale at Unity Stamp right now for $1.89 - normally $7.49.  I don't make anything if you buy it but it is an amazing price and will not last long.

I started with a top folding card base of white cardstock - 4" x 8", scored at 4".  Adhered a piece of red cardstock - 3 7/8" x 3 7/8" to the card front and then adhered another piece of white cardstock - 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" to the red cardstock.

Next, using the 3rd largest scalloped heart die (see supply list, below), I die cut a piece of red cardstock and a piece of red fun foam. Adhered the red cardstock to the fun foam and then adhered this to the card front (note, I trimmed the scalloped edges from the fun foam before adhering to the heart).

Then I stamped the image of the camera from the Captured My Heart set, colored it in with some Tombow markers, adhered it with pop dots to the heart, and the added some Glossy Accents over the lens area.  Finally I stamped the phrase in black ink and added a few red and pink sequins to the card front.

Done!!   Hope you liked this simple and cute card.  Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win all the cards I am making in February!!  Until next time -

Hugs from Brasil!

Faux Washi Tape Note Cards with Unity Stamp Co. and Lawn Fawn

Happy Monday everyone.  What a strange weekend.  It was so hot here that it felt like the whole town was sleeping.  Even the dogs were being quiet.  LOL.  I did get a chance to catch up with some friends - Justin, who is really not happy about how cold it is in NY and my friend Laurey who lives up in Toronto and she is REALLY not happy since it's even colder up there.  I will not complain since I got to hit the pool both days this weekend.

The note cards I made above for today's post were inspired by this card that I found on Pinterest -

and which is the creation of Christine Drogt.  She posted it to her blog back in 2012 and you can see her original post by clicking HERE!

I loved how she used washi tapes with different colors and patterns as the background and then just die cut through them all.  Seeing this card reminded me that I had a set of rubber stamps of different washi tape designs called "A Little Bit Washi" which is designed by Susan Weckesser for Unity Stamp Co.  So off I went to make these two simple note cards inspired by Christine's card.  I think I did well and I hope you guys do too.

You can make both of these cards at the same time in under 15 minutes!  I started with two top folding card bases 4" x 8", scored at 4".  Set these aside.

Then cut two pieces of white cardstock 3.75" x 3.75", chose 4 of the washi tape designs, 4 different embossing powders, Versamark ink and a heat gun.

Using Versamark ink up one of the washi tape designs and stamp it on the left side of the cardstock, cover with an embossing powder, remove excess, and heat set.  Then chose another washi tape design, stamp this next to the first, and emboss with a different color embossing powder.  Continue until the cardstock is covered.

First washi tape design embossed with Vigorous Violet embossing powder.
Next washi tape design embossed with Ebb Tide embossing powder.
Third washi tape design embossed with Gala Pink embossing powder.
Fourth washi tape design embossed with Marquis Orange embossing powder.
Last washi tape design is the same as the first and I also embossed it
with the Vigorous Violet embossing powder again.

Next, place the "Scripty Hello" die on top of one of the pieces and the "Scripty Thanks" on top of the other, and run them through your die cut machine. Then die cut the words "thanks" and "hello" again but with a piece of black cardstock.

This is what you will end up with.  The two words that you die cut put aside to use for another project. But the small pieces that are part of each word - YOU NEED TO KEEP!

Now adhere each of the pieces with the washi tape designs to the card fronts you made earlier. Then adhere the two words you cut from the black cardstock to each card front.  Then adhere the small pieces I advised you to keep, inside the words.

Done!!  I know this post looks long but these cards really are easy to make.  You can even make larger cards using more of the washi tape designs!  Hope you enjoyed the project!! Until next time -

Hugs from Brasil

Michael

Happy (Pizza) Pi Day | Sketch Challenge 19 with Tawny Owl Paperie | Inky Inspriation

Hello everyone and Happy Pi Day.  For many, Pi means 3.14 or 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197.  But, for crazy cardmakers like me, ...
