Noah And His Ark of Critters (And My Obsession With Noah's Ark)

Happy Labor Day everyone (in the states).  Here it is just another regular Monday for me.  So....I admit it....I have an obsession with anything to do with Noah's Ark. I have no idea why.  I do remembering reading the story as a kid and just fell in love with it. Considering my love of all animals, it's really not that odd. Right?  I have several puzzles of Noah's Ark (that I will probably not get to put together until I retire) and a box of Noah stamps, most of which have never had ink put to the rubber -

But that all changes today as I finally ink up one of these babies and enter this in the Retro Rubber Challenge 46 - Critter Time!

I started with a top folding A2 card base of navy blue cardstock.  To that I adhered a piece of light blue plaid patterned paper that went well with the theme of the card.

Next, I used two Lawn Fawn dies - Stitched Journaling Card and Ocean Wave Borders.  With the Stitched Journaling Card die, I cut a piece of white cardstock and two different shades of blue cardstock that would act as my "waves".  Then I used the Ocean Wave Borders die on the two pieces of blue cardstock to give them waves.

Now to stamp the image.  I decided to use an image called "Noah's Ark" by The Artful Stamper, which is now sold by Stamp On It, because it fit perfectly on the journaling card and because of the cute faces on all the "critters".  Because there are "waves" in the image, which I did not want to have showing, I placed the larger of the blue pieces next to my white cardstock and, using a stamp positioner, stamped the image in Versafine Onyx Black ink.

I colored in the image using various Tombow Markers, adhered the two blue wave sections over the image, and adhered the journaling card to the center of the card front.  Lastly, I stamped and die cut the phrase "sweet baby" from the Itty Bitty Banner set by Stampin Up, and adhered this to the card front.  Then I applied some Lagoon Stickles along the tops of the waves to give some shimmer.

That's it.  Done!  Not too difficult and, I think, an adorable baby card.  I hope you enjoyed this little Labor Day card.  Enjoy the rest of your day everyone and stay safe. Until next time -

Hugs from Brasil-

Michael

  2. You do have quite a collection of Noah's Ark themed products to play with, Michael. This card is another perfect card for our critter theme! Lots of texture and colors. I recognize the "sweet baby" as another SU vintage product, but don't remember the name of the stamp set. Thanks for sharing another critter card with Retro Rubber!! Enjoy your Monday!

  5. Great choice of background paper - just perfect. I don't think anyone else has done such a big group of critters - wonderful image and beautifully coloured - so I think the ark trumps everything!
