Last Minute Snowmen Tags

Hey everyone.   Well this has been a full weekend.  I was up at 6am on Saturday to get a few cups of coffee into my system before I went off to my 2 hours of portuguese.  The night before I made a double batch of cranberry/chocolate chip cookies and brought some into the school for the girls to enjoy. They went over pretty well.  After that our friend Elaine Fonaro came to teach a "vintage style" mini album with a matching box.  Everyone had a lot of fun and the creativity was flowing.

Claudia and Rosana are having fun.

This morning we had to run a few errands and hit Sam's Club to buy a cooler for the beach.  The wholesale clubs here are fun but not as much fun as in the states.  But I did find something cool.  Coca Cola issued a "historical" 6-pack of Coke - with each of the bottles from 1899 through 1923.  I think it's cool to see how the bottle changed shape over the years.

First thing I did was to stamp a few of the snowmen on white cardstock and let the SNC scan and cut them out.  I wanted to be able to "inlay" one of them on a tag.

Then I die cut tags out of cream cardstock.  Below is a shot of the 3 different size tags in this set.  I love how the medium tag actually cuts two pieces - the stitched outside and the plain inside.  I use it for one of the tags so you can see how cool this is to play with.

For the first tag - I wanted to "inlay" a white snowman on a cream tag.  So I cut one of the largest tags and then placed the negative section or "outline" of the tag I cut on top of another piece of cream cardstock and stamped the snowman with black ink. Then I used the SNC to cut the snowman.

Then I positioned the same template over the cut out area (the snowman will be the cut out area) -

and placed the die down again and secured it with tape, removed the template, and die cut it.

I also cut out a piece of Christmas paper at the same time for the back of the tag.

This gives me the tag with the snowman part cut out.

Next I used painter's tape to mask off the area near the stitching and, using a stamp positioner, I stamped the Triple Tree with Snow image using Cottage Ivy and Rich Cocoa Memento Ink.   I also stamped the small snowflake (also part of the Snow Way! set) in Summer Sky Memento Ink.

Then I adhered the piece of Christmas paper I cut to the other side of the tag.  You can see below the back of the paper where the snowman will "inlay".

Next, I colored in the snowman, glued it into the area on the tag, applied some Vintage Photo distress around the edges and some Crystal Stickles on the flakes and trees.

But, I was not happy with the red hat.  So I stamped the image again on a piece of plaid scrap paper, cut out the hat, and glued it on the snowman.  Yes...I have some issues.  LOL

For the next tag, I pretty much did the same as the first but without any inlay.  I cut another large tag and used the painter's tape to mask off the area near the stitching.  Then used a stamp positioner and stamped the Triple Tree with Snow image using Cottage Ivy and Rich Cocoa Memento Ink.

After this I stamped the small snowflake in Summer Sky Memento Ink, colored one of the snowmen with Tombow markers (Nos. 195, 452, 925, and 885) and pop dotted him in front of the trees.  Some Crystal Stickles around the base, trees, and on the flakes, some Vintage Photo Distress Ink around the tag, a red ribbon through the hole -  and I was done!

For the final tag, I went with the medium sized tag.  I cut it twice - once out of cream to get the center part and the 2nd time out of red for the stitched outside part.  Knowing that I would have to adhere these two pieces to a solid, but the die does not cut a solid, I traced it on a piece of Christmas paper and cut out manually.

Then I distressed the cream tag with Fossilized Amber, Cracked Pistachio, Salty Ocean, and a bit of Abandoned Coral.

The blending was a bit strong so I dripped some water on the inks to give it a more vintage look.  I then cut another piece out of cream and stamped one of the phrases on it in black ink, which I adhered to the back of the tag.  I also colored in the snowman.

Lastly, I adhered him to the front of the tag and used some stickles on his hat and bow tie.  Done!

Phew...done...I hope you guys liked these quick and easy tag ideas.  Until next time...
